International breaks 18:09 - Oct 13 with 3361 viewsliamW

We’ve another one in November, although the Nations League is in place of friendlies, I was speaking to a few Welsh journalists this afternoon and they believe the last two have been very uplifting for Welsh football. My dad is Welsh, and he is very much a club man, me I’ve no interest in England personally, and find it embarrassing the way the media deals with them.

What’s your view on international breaks ?

I’m still waiting for an away trip on the Indy 😂

I’m desperate to get a few away games in, but the ticket situation is a mare. You can’t get tickets unless you’ve got points (which is fair enough) but you can’t get points because you can’t get a ticket. There’s been a fair bit of harvesting going on and people are buying tickets with no intention of travelling just so they can keep racking up the points.

It’s really good when the FAW insist that people turn up at a designated collection point to collect their tickets in person, that puts people off harvesting if they think they’ll get caught out. Love it.

That stage system has been in place for quite a few years now major just for that very reason.

It's taken me a while to get up there, I've been to quite a few in the home end but it's been well worth it mate, you still get to go away and have a good time with fellow welsh.

You should still go away mate, you will definitely get a ticket and you will have a good time.

These was a time The Home Internationals were the go to Football games to follow .
George Best at The Vetch Field is still folklore for many , everyone was there that night .

Apart from ex Swans players in the Red Shirt , struggiing to put names to faces sadly .

I will be in the thinking of Club before Country , Fergie and Giggs got made sure of that .

Will keep an eye on how Wales perform though .

There is no such thing as club v country.
They are entirely separate.
It’s every players dream and ambition to play for their country.
Fact.

No need to thank me
You must have lots of annual leave
Many do not

I am not a 37 hour a week man. That’s part time.
50 - 60 for me. It gets me more leave and spare cash for my Wales trips.

There is nothing wrong with working 50-60 hours a week I did it most of my life, you can still have a good work/life balance. Many now work a 8-9 hour day but have a 1-2 hour commute to work and back, it's all about circumstances. Some come home from work and indulge themselves in their interests like music or similar. It comes down to a work/life/family balance, irrespective of the hours worked some get it right some don't, even those who don't even work.

It’s not the hours worked but what is done with those not.
I recall being mentally shattered and it was an effort to do anything .
I was very ambitious at one time and work took over for a while. Not good.

Personally, time with family overrides it all.

I did take my lad to our games as part of family time together and stayed overnight too.

Newcastle ….what a place for a overnight

Hi Robbie re your comment I listed below
"Ì will be in the thinking of Club before Country , Fergie and Giggs got made sure of that ."
Was Fergie right in his handling of Giggs, limiting his game time for Wales, given the winger had a hamstring issues which we have seen decimate the later football career of like of Montero, Fergie also restricted Giggs use on the wing with him playing in the midfield mostly managing the player's injury risk.
Can the same be said for Key whose game time is being managed given the injuries he has had even while with us. Is Franco being managed similarly, Brendan Rogers protected his wingers similarly the likes of Sinclair, Routledge and Dyer if memory serves me correctly.

Allen's intial decision to retire from playing for Wales was based on his groin injury for which he has had remedial treatment for but on his return while trying to get back up to speed had another rather inhibiting injury but is he now fully fit, obviously not but it will take him time to get fully up to speed, would he do that given the amount of time given on the pitch by the club, so maybe for recuperative reason he wants to play more, given Bellamy's pace and most probable knowledge of muscle injuries the limiting of playing time of younger players like Brennan Johnson and older ones like Allen and Brookes may seem strange to some but looks like good player management to satisfy both Club and Country's needs.
As some have said these Nations league fixtures are not high on the list of priorities but people should not be too disappointed with the games where if players had stayed on we might have won as it looks as if Bellamy is trying to build he squad of players for the deemed, more important fixtures fir the country.
Is Williams still in a similar position trying to protect players and getting to know some of his players for better results and squad for the season ahead while also getting some positive results.

Given the last couple of years results at home results as dissappointing as it has been to see Swanseaa not get the full three points at a couple of home games it is a lot better seeing an unbeaten home run looking towards an improvement as the season progresses.

Will Eom's injury damage the team hopefully not as someone else will be given a chance to prove their worth to the squad improving it in the long term, as I said hopefully.

Agreed. Some work is less demanding physically and mentally than others. Some jobs the hours worked are far more than people think. If you ask Gwyn, who's job is very demanding, if the hours in his profession are 8-4 he will certainly put you right, throw in lesson planning and marking and his hours can easily go over 50 a week. I would imagine his family life is still well balanced though.

Yeah, I’ve had sone jobs where it overwhelms you .
There was a time when my children were being followed / watched .
If you have a job in which you can turn off then you are blessed .
Best job I ever had was commission only .
Only one thing mattered . Closing the deal.
Dealing with the public directly is always demanding .
Quite how Social services folk get by I dint know. They see nothing but horror shows regularly

Anyway, back on topic, thank goodness the distraction is over and we can concentrate on what really matters .

Ewwod Park is a nice trip and club is full of tradition . Fans are ok too.

They haven’t filled the place since Alan Shearer 😂

True enough
However, look at their history and they are one of the founders and stalwarts of the system in which our club plays

A pre eminent club who were winning trophies before our club was born

Blackpool ,Preston,Blackburn,Burnley are historic football towns

I prefer the Nations League to the friendlies that used to exist before it. Now we have meaningful games and if we do well we can end up playing some of the bigger more established international teams who previously wouldn’t have considered playing against us. In the last NL tournament, we had Poland, Belgium and the Netherlands at the CCS and there were some really good players on show. Pre nations league, the big clubs would just play each other in friendlies.

It’s not just the fans who enjoy it, players like Cabango got to play and test themselves against some of Europe’s best players - can’t fault it.

Neither Friendlies or the International League have any value. Neither should exist. Just because UEFA claim that one is more important than the other doesn't make it so.

Cabango should be more concerned about the team that pays his wages.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The Nations League most certainly has value as it provides teams who fail to qualify for a major tournament with a further opportunity.
