During the last three disasterous windows lukey harped on about him having a huge say on who was being brought in, watching videos before giving his approval, that aborted plan to go and watch the mystery player who never got on the pitch etc but at the forum i got the impression that the manager whoever he will be would unlikely have any input at all, was that anybody elses reading of the situation.?

Depends on what terms a head coach takes up his position.

There may well be agreements where managers/head coaches take up the role fully relinquishing any responsibility/involvement in the signings department.

But unless the player is "one for the future" I would expect the recruitment team and DOF to at least discuss signings first to see how they would fit in, improve the first team or add strength to the squad. The selection of the match day squad is of course the Managers/Head Coaches role who are ultimately be judged on results. So it would be naive of a club signing a player he doesn't rate and would have no intention of playing (unless that manager/coach is on the way out of the door at least).

I think we now have a DoF who knows what he is doing, unlike when Coleman thought he could do everything and save money.

Which was the problem when Ogbeta was signed for silly money behind Martin’s back and the Chairman at the time by Allen (Peter) ?

Working together … who would have thought that needed saying ?

Managers wont play players they dont want, so just needs to be a joined up common sense approach.

Mark Allen was upgraded from the head of Academy to head of Football. He has links to Celtic and Man city.

He brought in Ogbeta who was probably a decent enough young football who has established himself elsewhere in the Championship. More useful than Pederson for sure.

Finlay Burns was way too young and never looked happy at Swansea. He also brought in Ntcham who performed well. Swansea signed him for free and got all his wages back after selling him and getting a World cup payment.

Overall his record was not too shabby. It looks like he did not get on with Martin who managed too fall out with all of his goalscorers at once except the chosen son Cullen.

Patterson Obafemi and Whittaker. Whittaker was a brat but so was McBurney. Potter played down his problems with him and got a massive transfer fee close on £20m. Martin didnot manage Whittaker well as Martin was not looking after the clubs interests so well. He was bounced out of the club for a £1m. Plymouth said thank you very much put up with his nonsense perhaps and sold him for £6m.

Another knock on payment for the Swans, there’s plenty others hidden as well.

I agree but a lot of "Ogbeta" type signings are also the fault of the player and player's agent. If I were a player/player's agent, I would certainly want a meeting with the manager of the football team before I sign the dotted line in order to find out where I stand in with the manager, who ultimately decides who gets to play or dress out for each game. A lot of these players want the money without realizing that the manager doesn't want them. Martin was the worst primadonna manager I've seen play out in these types of scenarios in a major program.

Correct.

The add on were because he played well enough to earn them. Plymouth got upto £5m more than Swansea did with a different manager.

Martin did not manage the player in the club's interest. e.g playing him in order to sell him. As I explained Potter dd not throw OMcB under the bus and got a good fee for a player I suspect he did not want to manage,

The same thing would have happened with Oli McBurnie if we’d had Piroe here at the time

Edit - that aside it’s not really comparable.

McBurnie was staying up all night on his PlayStation, going out when he shouldn’t etc. He was 110% on the pitch every time he played, though he did miss a few through ‘being ill’. By all accounts he was very popular with his teammates.

Whittaker drifted around shying away from physical contact, not closing down, tracking back etc. He looked to me like he didn’t want to risk injury and a potential move to Rangers.

On top of that, it’s common knowledge he had an attitude and was a bad apple in the squad.

If not mistaken, I think Keith said that Swansea Independent was going to be doing an update on all of Swans loan players. I'm excited to say that loaned player, Glory Nzingo, currently with the MLS Next Pro team, Carolina Core, came on as a substitute & scored his 1st goal in his 2nd appearance for CCFC (1st appearance was as a 2nd half substitute in their 1-2 loss in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup last week). He also recorded an assist in CCFC's 5-0 win over NYCFC II in their season home-opener this past Saturday, Apr 5. Approximately 4,400 fans were on hand, including my son & me. CCFC was named the Team of MatchWeek 4. My son, who played collegiate soccer & personally knows the club's owners, says CCFC, owners & management, really like Nzingo. After 3 games, CCFC's record is 1-1-1, and is currently in 7th place in the Eastern Conference of MLS Next Pro with a game in-hand. Glad to have a little bit of Swansea football here in North Carolina!

"Up to" means you haven't got a clue.

It means I do not know for certain. The add ons could be big or small and come off the £5m. The £5m is n known the add on are not.

The facts are currently. Plymouth have received £5M from Middlesbrough for Whittaker, we initially received £1M from Plymouth and received £1.3M add on payment when Whitaker moved to Middlesbrough making a total of £2.3M we have received from Plymouth for Whittaker. If you take away the £2.3M from the £5M Plymouth have currently netted £2.7M for the Whittaker sale, not a great deal more than our £2.3M.

So your statement.

"Plymouth got upto £5m more than Swansea did with a different manager. "

Is clearly incorrect as are most of the things you post.
