First covered on the OMB, but we are in striking distance of reaching a home league attendance average of 5,000 this season. Our total home attendance for the 21 games so far is 99,819, so we are 15,181 short of the target 115,000 (23 x 5,000), or 7,591 on average over the last two games.

It's certainly doable, but probably hinging on the level of away support, or whether Robbie allocates some of the North Stand to home supporters if there's demand for the Barrow game. I think one of the issues for the North Stand share idea is there isn't a means to segregate the concourse under the stand. I don't know, I've never been in the North Stand?

Crewe is selling well at the moment, E4-E8 approaching a sell-out, S1 and S2 sold out, S3 and S4 close to sold out, as are W3, 4 and 6.

Technically, there is another way to reach a home average of 5,000, but that would require a 24th home game. The good news is that in that scenario, our required average over three home league games actually drops to 6,727 per match

Edit: Crewe, not Donny

Putting the Barrow fans in E1 & E2 and opening up the north stand for home supporters would be the logical option... but they removed the seats from E1 & E2.

I thought about that too, and it would make sense. Just depends if we have the stock available, or the appetite to get it in time. What we do have is a fan base skilled in seat installation if needed

I don't know how much it would cost to replace the missing seats in E1 and 2 but we will need them in League One next season.

When the stadium was opened in 2008 home supporters were originally located in the Noisy North but then they were relocated to the Singing South.

Given that Barrow will bring less than 200 I would have thought that the North stand could be segregated providing segregation can take place in the concourse. If security and safety advice is that this is a non starter then get the seats replaced for Home supporters. In E1 and 2.

We could see 8,000 for the Barrow game then.

Actually, because of the intention to replicate Layer Rd, the noisy fans were originally in E1 and E2, and away fans had S1 and S2. I think that’s why there is a dividing barrier available in the South Stand. But the Stazi Stewards (who I think were subcontracted from Poorman Rd) put an end to that concept. We’ve made a few mistakes since moving into the new ground, but allowing that level of aggressive stewarding was one of the biggest. No matter now, it’s now our place and we own it!

Breaking news, on our ticketing website Crewe allocation has now been moved to only N4 and N5. That suggests the club might be thinking of opening up at least N1 and N2 for home fans?

Doesn’t matter to me, I’ve now got one of the last seats in S3

Barrow is also the same. You would think now might be a good time to replace those missing seats in E1 and E2.

For many sell-out games this season the seats by me in E6 row L have been unavailable to buy but never occupied. I see for both these matches they are unavailable or sold so will be interested to see what happens on the day.

17 seats left in the South Stand, the entire East Stand on limited availability, and likewise the central sections of the West Stand. We might struggle to top 7k, but it's looking like it'll be close. I personally think the club should put N1 and N2 out for availability now, might drum up even more interest.

That reminds me of a joke I once heard.

At the height of Newcastle United’s popularity, they sold out every ticket for every game. Despite that, one supporter found that throughout the late summer, autumn and early winter there was always one empty seat next to him. Despite repeated enquires he was always assured by the club that the seat had been sold and wasn’t available. Come Boxing Day, he’s amazed to see someone sat there. “Where have you been all this time?” he asked. With a tinge of annoyance in the reply he answered “my wife bought me a season ticket for Christmas”.

I can explain some empty seats…..

My pal and me have had Season Tickets high in the South stand for over a decade. However, my pal is now a tad unsteady on his feet so for the last two seasons cannot easily climb to the top of the stand. Hence, we have instead found and sat in vacant seats lower down.

In recent sell-out games this has not been possible and it is painful seeing him struggle using the outer walls as an hand rail and then battling across packed rows to get to our original seats whilst I steady him by holding his arm. I have noticed at least a dozen other older supporters that must be assisted and embrace this same approach. For 2025-26 he has relocated lower down.

This highlights a longstanding criticism of the stadium, steps too steep and no handrails. I take a size 14 G shoe and only my heels fit the steps, so I must go down sideways. Surely the cost of installing central hand rails in each aisle would be trivial? Why not dedicate a safe area to over 65’s as none of the stands have deeper safe steps?

It is a miracle nobody has been hurt on these steps, but one day it will happen.

I am also in the "wait until the steps are cleared before descending " category so understand that issue. I see the new Everton ground has seating which is only 0.5 degrees off the maximum permitted slope which is madness in an ageing population

Thinking about the vexed issue of the missing seats in E1 and 2.

Is there a case for doing something similar to what Wessex and others achieved and contributing towards the replacement seats and then self installing them akin to the magnificent eagle designs at the North and South stands.
These of course would be simpler because they would be purely blue or white but it would make the stadium whole again ready for some 10,000 capacity games in League One next season.

If I remember correctly, I think at least some of E1 and E2 was used as stock to replace damaged seats elsewhere? If so, we probably don't hold enough in storage to backfill E1 and E2. From a commercial point of view, I wouldn't be surprised if Robbie was holding off on the expense until he knows what league we'll be in next season. If it's League 2, we probably won't need them for any but a very few games.

If not League 2...?

South Stand sold out, only two seats left in the East Stand, W3 to W6 sold out and W2 and W7 close to a sell-out. Fans are now buying in the North Stand. Looks like we might make that 5k average attendance as things stand.

One of the first games I ever watched at the stadium was from the North Stand. It was the 3-0 defeat to MK which ended up being Williams' final game in charge. My mum and I sat right at the back of the North Stand and I don't remember it being particularly busy. There was a gentleman sitting across from us by himself and when MK opened the scoring in the second minute he tore his ticket into tiny pieces and sat for the rest of the game with them screwed up in a ball in his hand. He held them like that for the rest of the match until MK scored a second in the 88th minute at which point he threw all the ripped pieces of ticket into the air and stood up to leave. He hadn't even made it to the bottom of the stand when MK made it three. Might be the only time I sat in the North but at least I have that lasting memory.

Friday's attendance was 7,623, so 7,558 is the target for the last game of the season to achieve the 5k average home league attendance. Two weeks to go and E4, E5, E6, E7, S1, S2, S4, W4 and W6 are already close to sold out, N1 and N2 not yet available.
