Another poster quite partial to Carlisle...barring it's a long walk from the station. But, when I was a yoof, a young fellah moved into the area to begin his mech apprenticeship in BR's Willesden Junction depot. The Carlisle Kid we called 'im, all the way from the borderlands on his nod for a job on the railways. We got on pretty well, took a few of us up to see a couple of their games, loads of pubs on the 'High St'.
Its a real decline of a managerial career, he made a good managerial name for himself at Blackburn and even that one year at Fulham, but its been pretty disastrous since then. I can't imagine any other top flight manager of the last 20 years who's dropped down to manage in the fourth tier. I suppose Ian Holloway counts but he's not a "name" in the same way Hughes is.
In a sense fair play to him because I suppose money wise he doesn't have to.

Neil Critchley has been sacked by Hearts too tonight
Quotes on the BBC from ex Hearts player Michael Stewart saying they used Data analysis to choose Critchley. Now why does that sound familiar??
"When Neil Critchley's name was mooted, I don't think a single person associated with Hearts thought 'oh, that's a good appointment'.
"With this one, the board basically absolved themselves of any responsibility for it and handed the decision over to Jamestown Analytics. You cannot just take a step back and give full responsibility to someone else.
"Jamestown Analytics was heralded as the tool that could have Hearts challenge for the title but they've not been able to get a manager who could last a season and that undermines it.
"I don't think it's rocket science. Far too often, it feels like they are trying to be too smart and do things differently rather than just doing football things properly.
"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."
