I think the system that Marti preferred at home was possession based on the front foot Unfortunately we were not very good at it, or when we were early in the season (Plymouth/Portsmouth for eg) we were very wasteful in front of goal It's no coincidence that when he adopted a more pragmatic solid midfield, less possession in the middle part of the season home results improved. Away we were usually on the back foot, which again suited us and led to us picking up more points on the road.Overall though (Burnley excepted,) we were quite solid at the back and NEVER lost ( and only drew twice) when we scored 2 goals in a game. Hardly an epiphany but our lack of goals is what held us back all season especially at home. |  |
