New Supporters Bar on 12:40 - May 11 by SullutaCreturned | Yeah, imagine a hotel in Swansea that offers discounts to matchday ticket holders (or rooms are booked in conjunction with buying the tickets) that also offers a free bus to the stadium and back into Swansea....I wonder if that would work? I doubt if the Swans would build a 300 room hotel though, Maybe they should just buy the one on the seafront, I read that it has very low standards, not rated good at all recently, buy it, do it up, free buses to the stadium...if only I was a billionaire. |
The whole row if hotels down there have either gone to pieces or just gone. We had a hotel there for many years and it was a thriving place in the 70s, 80’s through to very early 90s but they can’t compete now with the budget hotel chains who provide much better standards for not much more. I thought The Sea Haven had closed though. I may be wrong.

Mostly just bail hostels/emergency housing down there now.

It's not an ideal situation. Young kids leaving care or otherwise estranged from family housed in close proximity to scumbags just out of jail. Hotel owners don't really give a shit because they get paid, council don't care as they can say that people have been housed.

No, I was thiking more of a proper big hotel, like the Marriot. 121 rooms. Tha's why I said about billionaire because you'd need a LOT of money to buy the Marriot.
New Supporters Bar on 23:51 - May 11 with 907 views | Robbie | LT 10 tried a Sports Bar on The Kingsway a few years back but that seemed not to make it and closed down , That area of Swansea was in a bit of a state at the time and Wind Street was growing in popularity , so footfall was in that newish boom . Will give this new place a look in if in the Centre which sadly is very rare these days . It will be up against 24/7 haunts for the youngsters to frequent most of the time , so maybe a hub of die hard supporters midweek and match day customers can balance the books and make a profit which the business is all about . Good luck to the new venture though ,The Garabali pub sign must be in must be in somebodies loft . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I drive past there most days going to and from work, usually a police van parked outside dealing with something or other most days. Not a good look for our city.

The more you read about the guy the more mind boggling it is. He has over £5 Billion of assets directly under his Chairmanship.

Also, for business outside of match days, the city centre is perhaps a better option than the Landore area. I’m a bit excited by it and I will definitely give it a go when it opens. My concern for it, with the club and this Football Taverns company owning and running it, is that it may be a bit “polished” and not what makes traditional supporters’ bars good; a couple of the club’s logos on the walls, £6-7 for a pint of Madri, Harvester style food menu and prices and I could see it not doing well. It’ll have to offer something unique to the supporters to do well / survive, as I don’t see run of the mill drinkers / party goers on Wind Street going in there vs more generic bars that do drink offers and have dance floors. Also, I’ve lost count of the number of bars / restaurants that have opened and closed on Little Wind Street / Salubrious Place over recent years; are they too out of the way and or the rent too much to survive? It’ll have to appeal to supporters to visit there everyday. I assume the club has access to decades of its own archive video content, which it could show on screens throughout the day everyday, possibly old memorabilia it could put on display etc.; I think those things would make it successful. |
In the article they actually ask if anyone has ideas, favourite pics they would like to see or memorabilia to loan or donate ? I would prefer it to be nearer the ground but lots of fans who are out after the game levitate towards Swansea so think it will work ?
