Sycamore Gap felling 19:04 - May 10 with 1181 views | Joesus_Of_Narbereth | Has there ever been a prosecution case so easy and straight forward as this? The silly buggers filmed themself doing it. Their phones and cars were tracked to the location of the tree on the night it was felled. They found a chainsaw and a piece of the tree in their car boot and messages between the two discussing how they were going to get away with it were on the phones. They were also the ones who phoned the police to turn each other in. And they had the brazen cheek to plead not guilty! “It wasn’t me”. I don’t think even Shaggy would try to pull this one off.

I have to agree ,although many seem to think it was just a tree , which in isolation it was but the significance of how important it was seems to have been lost on those with little or no imagination. I agree about doing community work , a much better idea in which ,if enforced properly and they're provided with a hard hat and HVis jacket would be benefit the community and whilst doing so let them think on , was it worth it .

Drakeford oversaw the brilliant idea of withholding farmers subsidies if they didn't give over 20% of their land o planting trees , not sure if the beuts in Cardiff have now withdrawn that threat.

What is wrong with that idea? Please explain. Farmer need to not only produce food but think about protecting the environment particularly rivers. Much of England is monotonous arable crops with few trees. Remember at one time not so long ago the whole island of Great Britain was wooded.

When you have governments hell bent on destroying the farming industry by either planting trees ,solar farms or making it impossible to survive because of the financial burden placed upon them then how can you expect them to produce food .Your statement about the about trees covering the UK as if we should be looking to go back , you do realise the UK population was about 1 million then if not less.

The last Tory government took British farmers away from their largest market, the EU. And they even fooled many farmers to vote for their own demise. Your points are secondary even if they are half correct.

Please take note we now have a Labour Government and have had since July 2024 , Brexit has also been and gone and for all its faults of which there are many farmers along with many other businesses are trying to make a go of it and they're also living in 2025, perhaps you could come and join us ?
