Johnny Workshy will soon have no excuses. 12:26 - May 12 with 1329 views | ReslovenSwan1 | https://www.gov.uk/government/news/overseas-recruitment-for-care-workers-to-end The Government cannot get people to do these jobs unless benefits for non workers are cut. Strange a labour government is doing this. I am not a labour supporter but they seemm to be getting a few things done. Trade deals, some deportations, tightening up on benefits. I sense British workers in some cases blame immigration for them being unemployed.

Johnny Workshy will soon have no excuses. on 13:03 - May 12 with 1137 views | JACKMANANDBOY | We are lacking a social care strategy which this government like all those before them has kicked into the long grass. We have made tactical changes to increase costs to the industry through NI, are looking to reduce overseas workers and extend workers rights. We are about 130,000 care workers short of what's needed today and will need about 250,000 more than we have in five years time. The Government's approach making tactical changes in the absence of a strategic plan is not the best way to get to a sustainable solution in any industry yet alone one under huge pressure. Never seen a care home owner driving a Micra ,I can never understand why so many care homes plead poverty when they're charging extortionate amounts of money per individual

The Government might have to stop up some benefits to get people working and cut other benefits for those who do not. This might sound crass but mild depression is not a reason to not be a cleaner or security guard. Labour have to step gently not to y upset the far left. Apparently Wales has special needs due to our "post Industrial heritage". .

My father is in a care home for Dementia . Prices have gone up £600.00 a month. The cost before this recent rise was already eye watering.

This might sound harsh too but I reckon quite a few people suffering depression would feel at least a bit better if they got a job. Sitting around at home all day isn't the answer. The point about care home owners is also valid, they charge a fortune, make themselves rich but underpay staff which is why they prefer to empliy foreign staff, they are usually cheaper. I think the sector needs better regulation, not necessarily more but definitely better.

I don't think that's harsh at all. The majority of people on some form of sickness benefit could do something, they only don't because they don't have to. They should have to unless they really can't.

I feel for you, my Dad's care bill totalled £600K. What makes me laugh is people saying we need more wealth tax, stamp duty, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, care home fees they are all wealth taxes

Well …. Its former Tory voters who are flocking to Reform. Starmer should not pander to them. They ain’t going to vote Labour. Not ever. Labour does need to deliver so that sensible centre left people can get on board. Starmer currently seems to be ignoring them. He is not inspiring anyone. You cant beat Farage on populist issues, give it up.

The Tories looked after the well off for 14 years. Reform are mostly failed Tories. Farage says he will allow people to earn 20k before tax. Will he hell. He says he will stop the boats. Will he hell. He says he will scrap to licesces and still have no adverts. The books don’t balance . The bloke is a dreamer.
| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

With Labour vote down 14.2% and Conservative down 8.8% and Reform up 20.6%. It's no point giving Kilky facts he will just ignore them.

He’s not a dreamer, he’s being calculated and deliberately telling people what they want to hear. He can get away with it because he’s not in power and he may never have to step up to the plate to deliver it. In the run up to the last GE Farage / Reform proposed enormous tax cuts amounting to around £90bn (no detail provided as to how they’d be paid for) which is double the amount of unfunded tax cuts Truss proposed before she resigned. We saw what happened to her, how on earth is Farage going to fund double the amount of tax cuts? It’s nonsense. Where is the cash coming from? Unfunded tax cuts paid for by borrowing will see the markets go beserk, so unless he slashes and I mean slashes something like nhs spending or the welfare bill it ain’t happening. Saving something like 10% of the governments total spending bill is a huge ask and realistically the only areas the savings can come from are the NHS or welfare budgets. Stripping out a third of the welfare budget is unlikely - especially when about 40% goes in pensions, one of the key supporter groups.

What politician has ever not told potential voters want they want to hear , christ we now have Starmer flip flopping and reincarnating into a 21st version of Enoch Powell with his " island of strangers speech", a devout disciple on the alter of immigration who now wants to do what millions have been pleading for for years. They're all shysters singing from the same hymn sheet but not necessarily in tune and will say anything for power.

How can Starmer hold his head up, in opposition he stated asylum seekers were welcome, now in government as you say he's morphed into Enoch Powell. Reform have certainly rattled him and Welsh Labour
