For it or against the wearing of it in this country.
Myself yes I'm against it as are most other civilised countries who have banned it so why not , it is the 21st century after all.

It's a strange one. We only know one Muslim woman who wears a Burka, she is divorced and wears it completely out of choice. We've known her for about 5 years and I've never seen her face, my wife has and says she's absolutely stunning.

Perhaps wearing it it saves her a lot of unwanted attention.

I get the security concerns but wouldn't support a full ban.

What factors are there that sees a woman cover her whole body
It is impractical if nothing elsimahobe driving a car with it on
Periferal vision has to be impaired
Why are Islamic women kept separate
Why also do some men still have attitudes towards women
Why are they pigeon holed

Maybe i misread. Why would a police officer need to see your face, or any official for that matter? i'm against voter ID, and I haven't voted since it was brought in.

What banks, who goes into banks thesedays if they can find one still open.

There's no need at all to see anyone's face in public unless they volunteer it

Re police officers (who ask to see the face, remember), the answer is the same as it would be for a person wearing a full-face balaclava. The general answer across a wider range of situations is that there are times when ID and/or security is an issue.

A rather greyer area concerns what happens when a face covering may interfere with certain kinds of social interaction. For example, in universities there was controversy about whether students should be allowed to take part in seminars/tutorials (small group work) when wearing full-face coverings. I didn't express an opinion on whether that should be permitted, but personally I think it has negative consequences.

Some (I not suggesting on here) get confused about the burka, the niqab and the hijab.

The conversation would be a lot cleaner IMO if it was concentrated on face covering.

Id is only required when a crime has been committed , or when reasonable suspicion of such has occurred. Let;s be honest, a woman wearing of of these is hardly likely to be a serial killer or bank robber and will not be on the police radar

Against it interesting watching Simon Reeves Scandinavian series, Denmark have banned it we could learn a lot from them concerning immigrants

Not only Denmark, quit a few European countries have a ban in place.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and parts of Italy and Spain.

All civilised countries, I have no issues with us joining them.

I was referring to a Niqab in that case.

I've never seen a Burka worn anywhere in Europe, not much point in banning it.

if you've never seen a women (TBC) wearing a Burka then I suggest you take yourself down to Asda in Llansamlet for example on the latter days of the week where you'll see plenty .

I'm sure I saw a story about 2 sisters who worked one job, they wore Birqa's and the manaher didn't have a clue that they shared the job. Or did i make that up?

I think you mean a Niqab. I think the Reform MP probably meant that too.

I've never seen a Burka worn anywhere, not even in London or the year I lived in Birmingham. I'm in Liverpool now and haven't seen one worn here either.

My understanding is that head coverings with netting over the eyes count as burkas and you do occasionally see them in Swansea. I think there may have been one at the Strand car boot sale last weekend. The niqab, with the open slot for the eyes, is more common here though.

If they commit a crime, as well as anyone else then yes you can get their ID, but if they haven't then you don't need to see their id as it's really none of your business what they look like underneath

don't see many or none at all ? and despite whether you do or not others would appear to have opposing views to yours and for them it is an issue ,in fact an issue which a number of countries have considered important enough to bring in legislation to ban the wearing of it in public.
Thanks for your contribution .
