For it or against the wearing of it in this country.
Myself yes I'm against it as are most other civilised countries who have banned it so why not , it is the 21st century after all.

EH? I've never seen any. I have seen a fair few, elsewhere In Bradford, London, Cardiff, Bristol, I have seen Burqa's.

I'm sure I saw a story about 2 sisters who worked one job, they wore Birqa's and the manaher didn't have a clue that they shared the job. Or did i make that up?

My family relative works there and I myself have seen a women wearing it ,my apologies if you think I meant that they worked there than rather shopped there.

No need to apologise mun. It just came as a surprise because I haven't seen any and we use that store regularly. There are a couple of headscarf wearing employees but I've never seen a burka in there in either respect, staff of customer.

Lucky man
Left it too late for tickets but didn't really fancy standing for four hours and the rigmarole of getting away after the show
Everton's stadium will be a greater venue
It's a wonderful city although still cursed by drug gangs in the suburbs
The centre has regenerated in epic fashion
Iremember the Albert Dock area before regeneration snd it was horrific
The whole waterfront was so

I recall a few Jacks who stayed chatting to Refs fans on the Ship and Mitre and got to Anfield well past start time
The day we were bottom but beat them

I want us back

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

I know Liverpool gets a lot of stick, but Swansea could learn a lot from the place. There's a considerably bigger and more obvious issue with homelessness and antisocial behaviour in Swansea than Liverpool.

Very friendly people and a cheap pint too.

And the new Everton stadium looked stunning on the walk back to the city from Anfield.

Plenty in Swansea I'm in Nicholl street surgery and often see them

Do you mean a Niqab though? I've honestly never seen a Burka.

A Hijab is a head covering which leaves the face visible. They are extremely common.

A Niqab covers everything except the eyes. They are less common than Hijab's but not rare.

A Burqa covers everything. I've seen a couple about, but not many.

Got no problem with the first one. The latter two should be banned in any free secular Nation. For every one woman who wears one voluntarily, there are hundreds who are forced to, or are frightened not to. Most choose to have their faces covered in cloth instead of acid.

I my opinion the Burqa promotes the general principle of slavery. The idea of one person being owned by another to the point that the person cannot be seen.

It comes from Arabia and other seriously hot places where skin cover is wise for general health. In UK it could lead to vitamin D deficiency.

It also promotes the concept of polygomy which is illegal in
the UK. In a place promoting benefits free health cars and education identification is essential to avoid fraud.

So glad I'm the age I am "A stark new report suggests the white British population could become a minority in the UK within the next 40 years.
73 per cent of the British population is white, but is predicted to drop to 57 per cent by 2050.".

Why does being a minority white British matter ?

Its been this way in many English cities for many years.

I do agree that all new applications should be processed promptly to avoid criminal activity and keep the UK safe and secure.
Bloke on question time panel last night said UK was 14th in list of European destinations for migrants.

Any proof of that? It's a very incendiary post.

As I've said our friend chose to wear a Niqab.

I don't think anybody in a free society should be told what to wear in the vast majority of cases.

Are young Iranian girls free to wear what they want or are they getting beaten to death for it? How about those in Afghanistan? Do you not think this goes on behind closed doors in the West too?

Their husbands/fathers/brothers tell them what to wear. The Government should give them the freedom not to. Sorry if you think that women's rights are incendiary.

Here's something else liable to add to the fire
Muslim women , via religious fundamentalism , completely under the control of men
It's true of most religions
Muslim women are treated here as they are in other Islamic countries

They may be wearing exactly what they want to. My only experience of someone wearing a Niqab in the UK is doing exactly that. She actually said she couldn't wait to wear one at the age of 15. She's divorced which is incredibly rare in Islam and has a successful career, she is only influenced by her religion not her family.

Iranian and Afghan men aren't free to wear what they want either.

I don't think anybody is claiming that womens rights aren't an issue in some cultures, but I don't think very many at all are worried about being doused with acid if they don't wear a face covering.

No burkas or niqabs on view in the Strand car boot sale today, unlike most weeks, but I can report a slightly unusual sighting of a veil worn over the lower face with a hijab. There were many hijabs - they are common now.

My post made no mention of what people could or could not do in public spaces, it related to the narrower question of what they could do in certain situations or types of social interaction. I would include visits to banks, entry to school premises (where security controls now generally apply), any kind of interaction inside offices with officials to request a public service, interactions with a police officer who requires to see the face, ability to vote at an election voting centre, driving a motor vehicle on public roads. My comment about social norms was just an observation, not a suggestion that everybody must conform with those norms anywhere outside their home.

To vote at an election the veil has to be removed to allow identification
