Another of their “stars” suspended this time for insulting disabled people.
Is there anyone at the Beeb that isn't a perv, criminal, idiot or whatever ?

This was very ill judged and a very outdated attitude and wrong

However, regards BBC when it comes to presenters that committ the worst crimes, they fail to react until too late and actually continue to support such people, particularly if they are high up in the hierarchy.

Lineker they told to go, just because he had an opinion he shared. It was his view, which he is entitled to, it was one some would agree with, but they stated he showed up BBC s impartiality. Ridiculous reason for me when he was simply a sports presenter.

Yet their main news presenter over decades committs horrendous crimes and until found guilty, they continued to pay him hundreds of thousands of pounds and when found guilty, they asked for it back. Appreciate contractual issues but I would have immediately suspended the man and withhold any pay and if found guilty, then they don't have to ask him meekly to pay back massive amounts on being prosecuted.

Any other job and you leave there and then on the spot.

BBC have zero morality when it comes to this over decades. And its still happening today.

I work with people who have down syndrome and its an absolute pleasure and delight.

Idiots that think this is amusing are very wrong, but even in recent times, high profile staff are protected to the hilt and actually still supported by the BBC.

This guy is not a main character in East Enders so not protected and rightly so, but if it was someone with supposed BBC gravitas, I truly wonder if the BBC would first think of supporting such a person as opposed to the correct action they took here.

I wonder.......

doesn't matter if someone is high profile or not they are innocent until proven guilty and when it's a criminal thing they have to wait for the courts to decide.

In the case you mentioned it would have helped if Huw Edwards had said from the start I did it guv and parted ways but he didn't.

This latest incident happend last year, they took their time to investigate and have now suspended him same as you'd get in any workplace

Why does it take nine months to investigate one comment known to be made though.

Our legal system is ridiculous

possibly depends on when the complaint was made, can't have been straight away as he would have likely been kicked off the Strictly show at the time. DO agree 9 months is a long time though

Lineker? Put aside his politics for one moment and everyone knows exactly what he's like (allegedly).

Yeah, he used to go to a restaurant an acquaintance worked at.
They did like Gary Neville though, he's supposed to be decent.

I've worked with the BBC in a technical capacity on and off for more than 5 years. Like any large organisation, there are good people working there and bad people. However, unlike many other larger organisations, there's a pervasive level of institutional arrogance. Senior management throw around phrases like "national treasure" and "the nation's broadcaster" and fall back on royal charters and the infallibity of "the trust" (invoked with a reverence usually associated with a religion). When defunding comes back on the agenda again, pearls will be clutched far and wide but I'm almost tempted to say "fùck 'em, let's see how long they last against the streaming giants" (in my opinion: not very long).

And yet... I always row back from that because without the BBC (specifically the regions), the small voice that local communities have becomes no voice. The club one of my boys plays at is being evicted by Ealing Council and made the news yesterday - and that, that right there - along with community news from Essex, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bristol, Luton (ok, not Luton) - is why I pay my license fee, not to see some sequined cùnt prancing around a ballroom in Blackpool.

And on that note, I don't normally do this on here but it's football and it's local so if anyone feels they can spare 5 minutes to support Samurai FC, you get my undying gratitude and a virtual pint (redeemable for a physical pint, in person, at QPR's next Champions League final, terms and conditions apply, always read the small print).
