Can't see a thread and watching the warmup. They might struggle...

Argentina played very well and were missing some key players. Some of their handling was world class.

A lot of work to do for Andy Farrell and will have learnt a lot from that.

Im off to Twickenham today and England B v France B.

I watched some of the game on iPlayer with Welsh commentary. That was a bit different. I don't get Marcus Smith and never have. Always seems to flatter to deceive. There must be far better full backs and fly halves to choose from.

What I know about Australia and The Lions could be written on the back of a stamp but would any experts consider Australia to win the series at 5/2 good value?

I think we'll win that one.

I’ve been searching in vain for the footage of Guscott’s try against the Aussies in 89 that showed a fan waving a Rangers flag in the crowd. Plenty of clips of the try, but not the best bit.

Whoever it was used to post on here, IIRC.

I don't think it's realistic to expect a scratch side, featuring probably only five players that will be in the starting fifteen for the first test match, to beat a team that in the past ten months has won against: South Africa, New Zealand, France, Australia, and only lost by three points to Ireland in Dublin.
A game like that should be viewed more as a progress check, than a game that they have to win.

very good first hlaf. end to end. pumas have improved so much but i felt Lions players did too much, tried too hard rather than lay off ball , played for them not the team?
it is the tests that matter v aussies.

Everyone on the Lions team who featured last night was trying to avoid getting injured. Hence the level of intensity you would normally expect from a Test match was never going to happen. It was an entertaining match, but it's function was to get the players playing together as a team. That will take a while longer, with a view to sorting out any problems by the First Test.

The person with the QPR West London flag was actually me.

I was there with my Fulham supporting mate who had a St George flag with Fulham W10.

We bought the tickets from a tout outside Ballymore. We were alone in enemy territory with all the Aussies. They were giving us grief, but we laughed it off and ended up having a good laugh with them.

Just after Guscott’s try, the mobile cameraman was right near us, and one of the Aussies shouted to him that these Poms want to say hello to their mums back home. The cameraman started filming and the red light went on.

We then found out later that we were shown on Grandstand and all the news programmes back home.

Ah, what a brilliant memory for you. So it must’ve been Grandstand, sat waiting for Football Focus, that I saw it on.
Being a BBC clip, that’s probably why I couldn’t find it on Youtube today!

All credit to Argentina but I thought the Lions lacked intensity. Small things but the anthems started and they're in a line, focused - the lions are cuddling mascots and taking photos. Half time everyone's doing their own thing in the dressing room - Argentina are stood to attention by lockers listening to their coach.

And I just cannot abide players throwing chicken wing passes (mainly because I'm not good enough to).

Here you go mate. The Guscott try is around 13 minutes, and me and my mate are shown straight after Rob Andrew’s conversion.

Ah, that’s brilliant. No wonder I couldn’t find it - all the clips I looked at were just the try.
Nice one, thanks for posting it.

Not overly concerned about this result really. Bit concerned at the number of Irish players chosen who are greats, but at the tailend of their playing careers. And if Smith gets chosen again at FB, we're in trouble deep. He's not very good at catching.

Poll: Kitchen threads or polls?

Look, I realise that I will sound like the a-typical football fan here, but I just don't understand the fascination of this colonial manifestation of egg chasing. I mean, the players, playing shoulder to shoulder against the same players they were fighting against about 3 months ago, against a team they could've been playing against whilst defined as their own country... I mean Australia haven't called upon a legion of new, enhanced specimens to offset the uber performance enhanced by the formation of the "Lions" which somehow is different to what was being offered up a few months ago when they were playing for their respective countries. This against the backdrop of their respective countries playing games as their actual countries whilst their players are off on some uber endeavour on the other side of the world, whilst in three months time will claim they're passionately committed to the cause of the next weird tournament (to the outsider) largely including a plethora of made up/too many rules.

I may have just described the world club cup, but rugby baffles me and I, in my football mindset, feel that this whole weird charade is made up by people who want to pretend to be popular in pow wow meetings at work, then retiring to a craft ale pub who serve sour beers in 3/4 pints for £9.

Again, I respect that I am a social and pop culture luddite, but the "Lions" and all they represent make no sense.... I suspect I may well be 'encouraged' to reconsider, but I dont think I'll ever understand rugby and its appeal

Last tour of NZ was 2017 & brought load of fans over & created great buzz wherever games played - main cities & some regional games as well. Went to Wellington test that we lost & good chats at pub crawl to ground as well as in the stands.
Filthy weather & Sonny Bill sent off early for a league shoulder “tackle” but couldn’t get too pouty as too much joy in visiting fans. Think the lengthy gaps between tours maintains the enthusiasm from NZ perspective.
