Who’s got the earliest game 10:54 - Jul 1 with 1146 viewsdixiefrog

Not sure if this has already been done , but was wondering who holds the accolade for the earliest Saints game, I’m only a youngster but will kick it off with the following.
9th August 1969 - home to WBA - lost 2-0
My dad took me to my first ever game and it was a treat for my sixth birthday.
Who’s got an earlier game?

Monsieur 130's first game was in 1932.

It's why he remembers Portsmouth's heyday with such clarity.

23rd of April 1960.

Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic ( as they were known then ) 1-3 Southampton.

Played at Dean Court ( as it was known then ).

We wore gold shirts and black shorts if my fading memory serves.

Eternal thanks to my uncle for introducing me to “The Saints”.

This is why I , like many AFCB fans, refer to them as Boscombe.

I am often asked why I do this.

Your uncle like my Dad set us both up for a lifetime of triumphs and tribulations, only wish mine was still here to cheer on the team in the new season.
