Now they have “ball trackers” on screen it’s a lot easier to watch than it used to be.
Not interested in the politics of the game and couldn’t tell you which players had chased the £ and which ones hadn’t.

Love Golf , play every Wed with a bunch of old boys , my son’s partner works for the PGA and tells me who is a Liv defector . I just root for anyone else but I still watch it . I would like Rory to win it in Ireland ..

It's the Open Championship. Literally any golfer on earth can and should be able to qualify on merit. It's the entire point of the competition.

I used to work with a bloke who played off 2, he entered the qualifiers every year as, in his words, for a small fee you get to play on some top courses that you either couldn’t normally afford or if you could, be allowed to play on!!
I don’t watch it as I haven’t got Sky but still follow it.

Though 2 is an impressive handicap to mortals... It's likely about 7 shots off qualifying standard! But yes, that's exactly the point. It's a fascinating field for this very reason.

The only time I ever got to ‘play for QPR’ !
Club v Fans matchplay game at a club in Middlesex.

A player (Steve Palmer, I think) didn’t turn up, so I was chosen to switch to play for the ‘Club’ with the kitman. His name I forget. But Birch & his ‘scratch’ brother, Cook, Rowlands, Ramage all played and Steve Gallen was in the group in front of us, I recall.

Anyway, we halved our match, despite being ‘dormie 1 up’ on the 18th tee. Our 1/2 point was enough to secure a 7&1/2 to 5&1/2 victory, so I felt briefly popular.

Anyway, as claim to fames go….. Carlsberg !
