Never really thought about it, but isn't privacy a human right? You turn up in your club colours, thousands of empty seats in the stadium, but you can't come in unless they take your name, address, age, email address and the rest of it.

We are in a world where data is so valuable.
In many instances, I have no objection to giving personal data if it is for legitimate interest, but always check and don't blindly accept requests.
However, I do have concerns with some of these companies/org who share personal data with other 3rd parties and have no control or interest, other than financial gain. Many companies are also using GDPR legitimate interest as a loop hole as well, when in reality they don't have a legitimate interest.
Look at many of the news papers on the web who ask you to subscribe or offer access free if you allow them access to personal data and cookies.
Be careful with who you share personal data with !

use a spare email address for non bank / goverment applications and a false birthday. In fact have a complete false set of security question answers.
amazing how many Happy Birthday emails I get from unknown companies on the false day

This looks like a club trying to reduce admin costs and have a register of supporters or ticket buyers who can acquire tickets at little expense (admin wise) vs a reactionary older person being foolishly stubborn.
Hard to believe that after 60+ years of supporting one club, he blows up over something so trivial.
If this is his attitude, then he will not be able to buy tickets for any gig or event.

Giving an email address you use for junk emails etc is hardly exposing all your info Doesnt everyone use a VPN and encrypted passwords these days?
