New Shirts and Open Day 11:38 - Jul 20 with 1105 viewsnoah4x4

I never stay long at the U's Open Day, typically just suffice to pay my CUSA annual subscription and a single circuit to see what's on offer there, but today I left in under twenty minutes.

Frankly, I didn't want to view the inside of an Arriva Bus, I didn't want to buy a cruise, I didn't want to buy a bike, I didn't want to buy a First Aid Course (I already have qualifications) and I certainly didn't want to buy the new yellow alternative strip with its psychedelic (drawn by a kid using a spirograph?) pattern. Anybody suffering from Epilepsy or similar sensitivities should stay away from the club shop.

The pitch looked as lush as my pristine artificial lawn, and would grace any bowling green or cricket square. How long it lasts in that condition once the weather changes with it additionally being violated by Ipswich U21's and Ipswich Women is anybody's guess, but I've never seen it looking so good.

I don’t mind either if I’m honest, and like the homage to 2005/06. Reckon the younger generation will like the away shirt, and certainly seems to be popular on the social media. I have no idea about pricing, but probably in the £45-50 bracket for adults I would expect?

How do we know that we are not supporting a company that is supplying the IDF for their continued genocide in Gaza?

Not sure this sponsorship sits well with me in the current climate (or any climate for that matter!)

Anyone happy with the UK selling arms to all and sundry should also be happy with the UK taking its share of the asylum seekers /refugees that arms sales create.

Personally I’d prefer it if they both stopped.

It’s sad that most of our manufacturing has gone down the pan, except for exporting weapons. We could be a lot better as a country, but there’s little chance of it changing.

Betting firm adverts, the Toon being sponsored by Wonga, sports washing, there’s never been any morals in any of it, so I guess it’s , if you can’t beat them join them.

RC probably can’t be too fussy where the money comes from.

Just to clarify, working with the DEO and/or the MoD, which I have done repeatedly over decades, doesn't actually mean you're supporting genocide. You need to differentiate.

The UK government has banned many UK companies from supplying arms to fuel the shocking ongoing situation in Gaza. Unfortunately they have been unable to stop some firms from supplying aircraft parts, because the supply chain is complicated and doesn’t go direct.

If and it’s a very big if, because I have no idea what they do, but if we are being sponsored by money made, against the wishes of the UK government, from the unnecessary killing of civilians including many children, then it’s not unreasonable for some people to have concerns on moral grounds.

Hopefully our sponsors can confirm that this is not the case.
