Liberty for all ! 08:45 - Jul 23 with 1170 viewsKeithHaynes

Twenty years ago today the ‘new’ stadium hosted its first game against Fulham, Alan Curtis testimonial. Swans won 2-1.

There’s a few blasts from the past in that line up. And just as we started to fly. Not Ijah Anderson style though.

What have been your best and worst memories ?

Like many the second leg playoff semi v Forest, the whole of the east stand seemed to move up a foot or something when Prats goal went in .

Best memory for me was the Llorente goal against Everton that it seemed to me bought us another season in the Prem when things looked dodgy. I came away from that game on cloud nine. Worst moment was that Southampton goal near the end of the final Prem season that effectively sent us down.

Pipping Leeds to the title by more than their points deduction.

The game v Leyton Orient with the title conformed.

Plus, that goal by Gomes in the carling cup putting Cardiff out, that game had it all.

Worst, there aren’t that many but the referee going nuts against Scunthorpe in the cup ? , sending off anyone he could find in a Swans shirt. He completely lost it. A very dubious chap.

Yes the Leeds game was a classic beating them with 10 men and seeing Dennis Wise's face when he thought they only had to turn up to beat lil ol Swansea

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

Pratley V Forest
Trundle V Yeovil
Akinfenwa V Tranmere
Beating Brizzle C 7-1 (Leon running the length of the pitch to score)
Beating Leeds 3-2
Beating Palace 5-4
Beating Man City 1-0
Beating Cardiff over and over again.
The list goes on and on...

..."who will guard the guards..?"

The Forest game of course, but that Pintado volley against "them" is one of my favourite memories.

Beating Arsenal 3-2 in our first yr in PL. Realy felt liked we'd arrived on the big stage. Also playing Napoli, result wise it wasn't great but to play such an iconic club in Europe under the lights still gets me excited

Obscure one, but Leons goal when he rolled it across for Trundle to tap in, Trundle realised he was offside and shepherded it as it trickled into the corner. The wait while the ref talked to the linesman before giving it.

Aside from that, all the classics others have mentioned

Gomez v Cardiff
Pratley v Forest
Trundle v Yeovil
3-2 v Arsenal
3-2 v Cardiff

Worst

Southampton to send us down
Bellamy very late winner
Trundle with a late winner that would have put us into the playoffs on the last day, then seeing the flag go up

Loved choosing my season ticket seat at the brand new Liberty Stadium.
They give you a red sticky label to put under your chosen seat.
Took great delight (with 3 mates) in selecting seats half way up, on the halfway line, in The East bank.
Happy days.

I could never understand why the first opportunity we had to reserve seats was when we were actually playing Wrexham at home.

Crystal Palace 5.4. Llorente warming up to come on; he was like a raging bull.

Playing in Landore still feels like we are on an all inclusive holiday just waiting to go back home to our ugly lovely town.

I love Swansea City F.C but the Vetch Field is in my DNA

Im glad that i used to take my son to the vetch from the age of 3,
He is 33 tomorrow so had fantastic memories there, then the new journey of moving to the liberty,
He has seen some really brilliant days from a mini Jack to a full grow man

Best moment the play off against Forest and West Brom in the evening game where we absolutely annihilated them in the first half., some of the best football I have ever seen us play.

Worst moment Stoke when we were relegated our 5th loss in a row, it didn't need to happen, imagine if we had the current owners instead of Kaplan and Levien. Chelsea 0-5 defeat was pretty bad as well 0-4 HT made it a long game.
