Barrow Game 09:18 - Jul 27 with 2259 views | mikehunt | Lost 1-0 88th minute goal. Hope that's not a sign of things to come. Late concession of goals was a serious failing of ours last season.

Barrow Game on 09:57 - Jul 27 with 2149 views | Dalenet | It was a penalty wasn't it? I am not too worried if defensively we kept a League Two team to a 1 nil scoreline and no goals conceded from open play or corners. Jim now needs to decide how many of the trialists he wants to recruit

Does it? It was a pre-season friendly away to a League Two team where the main aims are to test fitness, tactics, bed in new players, assess trialists, and so on. We had won the previous three friendlies, including one against another League Two team. We even scored a late goal in one of those games... Anyway, in LEAGUE games last season: Goals scored from minute 80 onwards: 17 (including 4 in injury time) Goals conceded from minute 80 onwards: 5 (including 0 in injury time) Points gained from minute 80 onwards: 11 (including 5 in injury time) Points lost from minute 80 onwards: 7 (including 0 in injury time) So really, there were only the Bromley and Spennymoor games that 'cost us' with late goals.

Barrow Game on 12:43 - Jul 27 with 1745 views | cumbria_dale | I went to the game. Barrow are a very well drilled, established league 2 side and we went toe-to-tie with them and at no point looked inferior. Barlow should've scored after rounding the keeper in the first half but hit the side netting. Lots of possession particularly in the first half and mostly moving the ball forwards. Second half as is often the case after a host of subs, things became disjointed. I thought Humbles looked very good when he came on.

Good summary. Also to add, Barrow start their league fixtures this coming weekend, while we still have a further week to go.

But it was the goalless first half against Spennymoor that cost us…

You missed another late goal, though - was it versus Wolves U21s - that "cost" us. So those three games with late goals, that saw us get dumped out of cup competitions, quite literally cost us as, presumably, we would have earned a few bob for making it to the next round.

I didn't think anyone was fussed about that match and competition! People always forget late goals a team scores to decide a game if they concede one in another! [Post edited 28 Jul 15:04]
