The key words are "fair minded people" we in the west have a perception of fair minded. There are large numbers of people in this conflict who think it is fair and reasonable to seek destruction of the other side and many who think that it is desirable to die and for others to die in their cause.
There is a real problem with people like Starmer assuming they can solve problems with the way they think and imposing their own conditions. | |

Subsequently why would the Palestinians agree to giving their land up and on top of that agree to terms that they thought was all in Israels favour.

The regions of Palestine and Transjordan were part of the Ottoman Empire and were not countries, these were given the British Mandate after WW1 after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire. Transjordan by far the biggest region was handed over to Arab control. Part of the Palestine region was used to create Israel.

Look up Shaba and Shatila 1982 . Several years before Hamas even existed. There is an ever increasing cycle of violence since before then.
