How many great moments has Adam Armstrong given us ?
He's been a stalwart over many seasons and we love him.
But sentiment does come to an end.
He was clearly off pace and out of his depth on Saturday.
A league one side would really benefit from his experience and reboot his career.
We have three good strikers now who must be chosen before Adam.

Three?

I am struggling to think of one.

Two years ago Adam Armstrong started the season slowly, yes he scored against Sheffield Wednesday in the opening game, but truth is the ball brushed his head as it went past him he didnt really know a lot about it.

He got two penalties in the 2nd game against Norwich, but it would be the 4th game against QPR before he got his first real goal in open play and we all know what happened after that.

Armstrong needs a goal, he has struggled in pre season, but once he gets one the confidence will come back and the goals will flow, he is 28 years old and at the peak of his career, don't write him off yet

He scored the winner in the play off final, and scored two in the semi final against West Brom. He was excellent in that season, scoring something like 25 goals wasn't it. I haven't given up hope in him yet. I've seen him do it at this level. Admittedly, he doesn't seem quite at it at the moment.

Poll: Who do we want as the new permanent Saints manager?

His best form was on the right of a 3, with Che Adams playing centre forward. He could also play as a nominal "centre forward" under RM because RM's style was more about passing the ball into the net, rather than getting on the end of crosses. His finishing can be good when he's confident, but If you play him as a CF for too long he will lose confidence because that's not his game.

His strengths are running into space and chasing down opponents. He has pace, skill and a good engine, but he's no good at holding the ball up or winning headers, so that's a bit of a problem if he's playing CF. If he plays he should be wide right in a front 3, or a second striker in a front 2.

In that season he was generally playing wide and coming in rather than a target CF. He just seemed a bit lost on Saturday whereas Fraser was all over the place and looking for the ball
Give him time (and that first goal of the season) and he'll come good (?)

Got to be honest, I can’t understand how he started in front of Stewart, Archer and Downs.

His performance was dire. Can see why West Brom dropped him.

He was poor at WBA
His stint there was basically over once Mowbray (who signed him) got the sack.
