Football Manager 1982 12:37 - Aug 18 with 682 views

For those of a certain age this was THE football management game. I used to play this on my Commodore 64, plus my Dad used to sneak games in when I'd gone to bed. I was, of course, always QPR.

I had it on my electron. You could change the player's names and i remember us getting David Seaman but thinking it was Tony Coton, so put the wrong name it.

I played the version on a spectrum, once sat up all night playing it. Always had Rochdale first game IIRC

I might have to give that new version he's done a go on mobile. I've long stopped playing the modern day Football Manager games, they are just so over the top and over-complicated now.

I wonder where the Collyer brothers are these days too, as inventors of the original Championship Manager/Football Manager we know today...

Absolutely loved the Spectrum version. With the highlights coming on hoping there would be just one more chance / sequence appear if you needed a goal, or not if you were ahead. Genius.

The "mobile" versions are a decent blend of detail/features without going too over the top. Although they have got last in the last few years and just updated the database without changing anything.

Series hit it's peak with CM01-02 in my opinion. There's still a community that updates that game and releases a new version every 6 months or so with an updated database. So you can play with latest players/divisions etc
