Maybe I'm being to optimistic and think Sheehan has done what he wanted. Make us all think nothing is coming so it doesn't jepodise the transfer. Incorrect. The first bit is right. But the Swans never spoke to Carlos or his agent. Unless they mean they moved on to not inquiring about him.
The Swans were never in for Carlos.

Yes, I’m stating the Swans never entered into talks with him, it was clear well before he was mentioned he didn’t want to come to the championship. I trust our sources especially when they give us information three weeks before a takeover or any number of players touted by all the other swans websites which were all wrong. 19 players dismissed, all of whom are not and never will be Swansea players.
I think the overall response by you suggesting I said they are wrong is incorrect as well.
Do you go on there and say the same thing when they suggest we are wrong ?

I'll carry on being that guy I guess.
We managed to finish eleventh last season (and could have finished higher) with almost exactly the same forward line. The only difference being Wales for Yates. This year we have a much stronger midfield and wing options to support them. Yes, we'd all love a 20 goal striker. No, it wouldn't be the end of the World if we didn't get one this window.
The primary issue for me is that Sheehan seems insistent on playing Cullen as a lone striker when he's been proven over several years, several coaches and several strike partners to not be up to the job. At least Vip can win a header or two. Or we give Wales a decent run. If Cullen is going to play, the only position that he's ever been of use is as an AM. [Post edited 21 Aug 19:35]

I've done a bit of digging on this and the figures suggest that Cullen is pretty useless as an AM too.
His reputation seems to rest almost entirely on a good five or six weeks he had for Wales and us between November and December last season.
Scored three goals in 17 appearances for both until 19th November, then eight goals in nine games to Boxing Day. After that, three goals in 25 games up to the end of the season, with three assists all season in all competitions. The season before that, seven goals and five assists in 49 games.
Bottom line is that he has absolutely no business in leading the line for a Championship football club, and his merits as a midfielder are also somewhat inflated. Being relegated to the bench and watching him flounder about is probably one of the main reasons why Vipotnik might have wanted out. | |
