Question for the stattos 09:50 - Aug 25 with 1073 viewsKensalT

If you include preseason games then in the last twelve fixtures we've been on the wrong end of a 5-0 (Burnley), 6-0 (Castellon), and 7-1 (Coventry).

We've conceded 30 goals in those twelve games.

And there were some soft fixtures in that run. Sunderland were playing within themselves. Plymouth are struggling to get going, and Stevenage and Cardiff aren't the most fearsome opposition.

So the question is have we ever had a run that bad before in the club's history?

Everyone at the club feeling shit all the time because of redundancies, accusations of bullying, and general knobheadery from senior staff will have an effect I imagine.

Despite Saturday, there are some good players in there IMO.

I wasn't aiming that at the players, or manager.

We've had a change of manager and some turnover within the squad during that run of results, but we're still in a deep rut that we show no sign of getting out of.

I was just trying to put into focus quite how bad and probably unprecedented this run of poor results is.

Some might say it's ridiculous to include preseason results. But I would say it's ridiculous to include the kids teams when reporting on fitness and availability of players.

If you want to live by data then you risk dying by data. And when results are this bad then there should be no hiding place.

The CEO/DoF needs to recognise this, admit there's a problem, and try communicating to the fans what he intends to do about it.

At the end of the 86/87 season we had an awful run

We finished 86/87 in 16th and conceded 64 goals in 42 league games, so maybe the players were on the beach at the end of the season:

For those-like me-long on the tooth season 1968-69 also stands out for all the wrong reasons.Following 2 creditable draws against West Ham and Burnley Rangers finished the season with these stats..

LOST..13 (including 9 on the spin)
GOALS FOR..10
GOALS AGAINST..35
The defeats included an 8-1 pasting at Old Trafford (1-0 to Man U at half time) So we lost the second half 7-1.How apt!!!
And a 5-0 thrashing away to ..Coventry
I think it was Aussie band Split Enz who sang History Never Repeats (1981).
REALLY???
Let's hope we can put the mighty Charlton to the sword at the Bush On Saturday.

Towards the end of Steve Burtenshaw's disastrous season in charge we lost 13 of the last 18 games. Only two wins, a 3-1 away at the SW6 cesspit and the freakish 5-1 at home to Coventry. May be coincidence but the first of those 18 games was Phil Parkes' last before leaving for West Ham.

Yes having started going to the Bush at the age of 7 for the 66-67 season and then enjoying the 67-68 promotion the 68-69 season was a real shock to the system and to cap it all my hero was out of action until December!
