Andy Sinton 20:47 - Aug 25 with 1580 views | stainrods_elbow | Although I'm not normally in the UK (though will be at the Charlton game with a Man Utd-supporting mate), I wondered if anyone knew how Andy could be contacted (c/o the club or otherwise) to wish him the speediest recovery. I don't know if he's receiving visitors, but I also thought it could be a nice gesture if a gaggle of LfWers could be assembled with card and fruit/gifts to see him in hospital. I would gladly contribute in any way I could (money/organisation etc.) albeit at a distance, even if I can't be there in person. Any thoughts?

Andy Sinton on 20:59 - Aug 25 with 1453 views | rbee | Great idea! Of course I cannot be certain but it wouldn't surprise me if Andy was home by Saturday. I am sure that the club would accept anything on Saturday and forward it on to Andy. [Post edited 25 Aug 21:00]

Andy Sinton on 21:04 - Aug 25 with 1395 views | stainrods_elbow | He's only 59, though these things can happen at any time. I notice he's bulked up quite a bit since he finished playing (like me since I finished, uh, not playing, and like a few of us on ere, I'll wager), and I'm wondering if that was a factor. He also sometimes seems a bit short of breath on comms. I'm also wondering how long he'd normally be kept in for with something like this - does anyone know? In the meantime, I've emailed the club and expressed the hope they'll be updating us asap. [Post edited 25 Aug 21:06]

Andy Sinton on 21:10 - Aug 25 with 1326 views | numptydumpty | When you are recovering from something so serious, my guess would be you only really want to spend time with your nearest and dearest. Am sure the club would pass on any messages, gifts etc Stainrod. Myself personally, hope he doesnt rush back. Sometimes these things are brought on by too much stress etc and would think presenting on the pitch, interviewing Nourry and his cronies at a fans forum and commentating on the Rs, all have their stresses and strains and we all know the life around our club can be a challenge for all. My hope is he recovers in his own time. Football and the like can wait until he gets stronger once more, which obviously its what we all hope.

Andy Sinton on 21:11 - Aug 25 with 1324 views | rbee | A mate of mine in the US suffered a heart attack on a Monday evening and was kept going by CPR. He had an operation to fit stents on the Wednesday and was home on the Friday.

Wise words, I'm sure. But hopefully we're (a bit) near and dear to him too, just as he is to us!

He’s the one decent constant at qpr atm, great bloke, loves the club and can only wish him all the best
Andy Sinton on 21:46 - Aug 25 with 1055 views | qpr_1968 | loved andy as a player, and met him a couple of years ago for a drink and photos. the man was an absolute gent and had a good chat with him. my mrs did'nt know who he was, but listened to our conversation for a few minutes, and after thought he was one of my mates from years ago.....thats how i thought after he left as well. i had stents put in 20 years ago, watching qpr does'nt help, so i know how he feels, so the the good results keep you alive. he'll be up and ready soon, dont worry.

I’m really not sure we’re the priority for Andy and his family right now. I think they are. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Andy Sinton on 22:14 - Aug 25 with 931 views | ted_hendrix | I had my heart attack slowly start at work on a Tuesday afternoon, I went to the surgery and was told all appointments were taken, I mentioned to the receptionist that I'd been and was still suffering chest pains (albeit now minor) the receptionist told me to wait In the waiting room, I got called In pretty quick was wired up (by this time I was feeling fine) the Doctor got another Doctor In to read the result print out, he took one look and said call an ambulance. Off I went to hospital feeling fine, got admitted to the heart/stroke ward, examined and told I was not allowed to eat as I'd be In the operating theatre tomorrow (Wednesday). Wednesday the operation didn't take place due to the ward being excessively busy, so I spent the day starving, On the Thursday I was eventually wheeled Into the theatre without going Into too much detail I was laid flat on my back with three television screens on the ceiling that all switched on at the same time, there on the screens was my heart beating away while a staff nurse was stood by my head telling me not to move but remain completely motionless, after about 15 minutes the surgeon came out from behind the screen and told me he could see the problem and he could cure It which he did with a specially Imported stent. It took some doing looking at those screens while he was working remotely in my old ticker, he eventually came round from behind the screen and gave me the thumbs up and told me It had been a complete success and I was wheeled out and taken back to ward, the incredible thing about It was the unbelievable feeling of elation when I got back to the ward. That surgeon came to see me later that evening wanting to know how I was feeling, what a lovely caring Man he was (originally from Pakistan). As a guide the bloke in the bed opposite me had a bad heart attack and he was being spoken to by the Doctors about his release, they cautioned him about taking Six Weeks to recover with minimal visitors but absolutely no unruly Children as visitors. I was released on the Friday having spent three nights In Reading Hospital. I've since had a spate of minor strokes and have had a triple A stomach operation In the John Radcliffe Hospital In Oxford, these Doctors and Nurses at Oxford are very, very special People, I don't do that patronising thing but they were brilliant with me, they brought me In twice to explain the operation In more detail, nothing was too much trouble for them. I've got no Idea about Andy Sinton but If he gets anything like the treatment and care that I got from the NHS staff at Reading and Oxford then I'd like to think he'll be OK.
