MF was told he had to leave and had to play at the top level to be picked for Portugal. That's nice of him isn't it to encourage our players to leave. WS confirmed how difficult it's been, with certain players being told by national managers they have to leave to play at the top level in order to be play for their national team. He also confirmed that Fernandes wanted to leave.

It's a great league far better than the PL. Maybe they don't get paid as much.

The problem is SotonFan is that you're looking at it from a footballing/competitive and fan point of view, as opposed to the selfish attitude of a professional footballer point of view.
Unfortunately MF will now be playing in a struggling Prem team (assuming he'll become a regular starter?) which although probably better than a not too bad Championship team, may still not help his international aspirations
Wasn't there another Prem player playing in a lower half Prem team who was told by Tuchel he'll need to be in a top 6 team to get in the England squad?
