What have we become? 08:43 - Aug 31 with 2217 views | Southamptonfan | To quote SaintWizzler in another thread: What have we become? (Great rhetorical question) Feeling p!ssed off this morning to be honest. Bournemouth won at Spurs, great, committed performance despite selling lots of players, and bringing in new players. No excuses for needing to integrate players there. They just replace well and win games. How come they can do it with their 12000 seats and we can't? Pompey above us for the first time in 10 years. Our players being fitter under Will Still? Do us a favour. They always seem to be ill with stomach problems. Do they need to check the club chef too? Or does he let them drink to the early hours. He doesn't seem the strict type. Our fans seem okay with this. It's okay, be positive, don't be negative, support the team. They will still be politely clapped off if Pompey go.5 points clear of us, won't they It's all fine doesn't matter. A once proud, consistent PL club, going backwards it seems. We used to be the top club in the south and proud. Long gone are those days and for many it's okay, doesn't matter. Where is the passion for this club? Yes, it's early days, but sort it out Saints. It's been a very poor start. [Post edited 31 Aug 9:20]

What have we become? on 19:17 - Aug 31 with 413 views | barry_sanchez | They do but many cities have structures, buildings and things that can be easily identified as their own, Brighton pavilion, skate tower, Bournemouth beach etc etc, we put up our council offices and woolston bridge as a part of the city skyline. We're not a major city I get that but Jesus wept its like they've tried to make it as shite as possible, the old bombed the shite out of as well doesn't work when you look at the tonnes or bombs other cities had thrown down upon them, they managed to rebuild.

What have we become? on 18:32 - Aug 31 by grumpy | I agree the city needs to take a serious look itself. I went into town the other day and came away depressed. The Bargate had cheap little stalls round it,the precinct was dirty and there were people with bedding lying in doorways. What tourists make of it I dread to think. It didn’t use to be like this. |
Whilst the football was going on yesterday and in the pissing down rain, I completed a ‘Southampton Treasure Hunt’, a Christmas present from my sister who had come down to visit. It was great (albeit got soaked) going across the city to the various parks, monuments etc. Southampton has so much history to be proud of and it’s shameful the way that the many councils over the years have neglected that history, especially the waterfront. There are two Universities with a shedload of students graduating each summer with very few jobs to keep them in the city other than bar work or in a coffee shop. There’s no ambition again from the council to bring in industries and get the city going. It’s as though the council, from all parties, is run like a local parish rather than the international city it should be. I love the City of Southampton, but it really does need a kick up the arse and start being competitive.
What have we become? on 20:11 - Aug 31 with 322 views | PatfromPoole | The game has never changed. It has always been about quality of recruitment. Both of managers and players. Ever since Paul Mitchell left, we have struggled in this, and have been overtaken by the likes of Boscombe, Brentford, Brighton, Fulham and Forest. All of whom we have been above for many a year. Even Forest for 20 years or so. We will have to see how Spors and his team of German data experts do. He is the most important person at the club at the moment.

The councils are mostly skint. No money for anything. And the people.just drop their rubbish and mattresses everywhere. No pride or sense of community anymore. [Post edited 31 Aug 20:31]
