Hopefully someone starts publishing a table for "best climbing wall". That would give us another one to get excited about.

Saints make the most profit in the league on 14:08 - Sep 2 with 524 views | Block8 | Must be hard work being so positive all the time! These figures are from the Swiss Ramble, the Swiss Ramble is a popular Substack blog and social media presence, run by a British expat living in Switzerland, that provides detailed financial analysis of football clubs, particularly from major European leagues. We have lost £60m a season by being relegated, parachute payments offset around £40m. Our wage bill is £81m with an expected income of £85m, other expenses run at about £38m, which equates to a loss of around £34m Player transfer profits help us to stay alive financially and we still have around £61m for January should we need to use it. I'm not a happy clapper but maybe a bit more of a realist. Perhaps the half empty brigade is why the atmosphere at St Mary's is often seriously lacking?
Saints make the most profit in the league on 14:11 - Sep 2 with 519 views | SaintNick | We can all scoff, but what it shows is the success of the club's recruitment department, but we won't really be able to judge until the end of the season when if we have been promoted then this will see us with money in the pot to but in Premier League quality players next summer or whether we are still stuck in the Championship for the following season. It is a fine line but in terms of the sustainability of the club moving forward and our ability to compete, you are better to be at the top of this table than at the bottom, ask Sheffield Wednesday. The club has made many mistakes in the transfer window over the past 3 years, but it is now stabilising and moving forward.

Not sure where you get wages as £81m. The numbers from FBref and Capology say that last year our wage bill was about £50.5m https://www.givemesport.com/premier-league-wage-bill/ This year it will be massively reduced from that number. The parachute payment is expected to be £49m, not 40. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/25075248.much-will-relegated-southampton-recei

Fernandez and Lavia aside what other success has the clubs recruitment department had? They are lucky in that they had Tino, JWP, Tella and Dibbling to sell to prop them up. How is the club stabilising ? Its lost is main income and had 3 years of clearing the decks of dead wood, only to fill it with even more rubbish.

Squad wages according to FBref were £54m+ That is squad wages, the figures I added were for the club as a whole. But yes I was wrong on the parachute payment, hopefully that cheered you up about 😂

So basically you mixed up apples and oranges. The accounts for the year ending 30/6/24 cover the last time we had a championship season. They show that we made a profit of £36.4m after a profit on player trading of £76.4m. This year our profit on players is £62.4m. So we should probably expect a total profit before tax of around £20m for the year ended 30/6/26, not a loss of £34m as you were suggesting.

The around 34m loss was before transfer income, as it's separate in my figures. We'll have around 27m profit if we sign no one in January. But those totals cannot be agreed until after the January window.
