NFR - decent pub food 19:19 - Sep 2 with 1265 views

This weekend I'm meeting up with family in north Manchester and we need some decent pub food. We'll be near Middleton so I've seen the Lancashire Fold. Is it any good or are there any better suggestions please? Much appreciated as I don't know the area that well.

If you're able to meet up closer to Rochdale there are better options.

Maybe the lack of replies is because there aren't many posters on here who live/eat/drink in that area.

If you don't know why your posts keep getting downvoted, there's no hope for you.

Food at the Fold is pretty good.

The landlady has run the place quite a while its a consistent decent place for sure.

Others to consider - The Old Cock or the Rose of Lancaster. They are both close by.

The Lancashire Fold is John Willie Lees and is a decent pub and does food. The Rose of Lancaster is an alternative the same as the Lancy Fold but a nicer setting.

Depends where abouts in Middleton you are stopping tbh. There is a Witherspoons in the centre (pretty standard for the area).

A good shout would be the Hare & Hounds on Oldham Road, Thwaotes pub & does reasonable pub grub & a varied menu (has a website & menu on line & would reserve a table).

The Hopwood Arms has a limited menu or if your feeling flush, the Royal Toby in Castleton is excellent food quality, not expensive in an Uber from Midd.

I lived and worked in Midd for years before moving to Rochdale.

My choice of I had to would be the Toby or Hare & Hounds as not a fan of JW Lees pubs, find them expensive for what you get & like spoons food..

Hope it helps, not much left in Midd anymore tbh..

Thanks for the responses and for the suggestions and for everyone else who at least considered the question. For reasons I won't bore you with we're a bit limited this time in terms of location but I'm meeting my 9 month old grandson who lives in Yorkshire. In future years any meet up will involve going to watch the Dale so it'll be easier - but he doesn't know that yet !!
