The cost of government work is ridiculous. 19:28 - Sep 2 with 942 views | ReslovenSwan1 | The BBC today reported on Richard Tice s (Reform) plans to reduce wasteful spending. He quote the 20mph in urban area which we do not have many. The BBC said this. "Tice's 20mph speed limit pledge as an idea to save money will raise eyebrows, particularly with councils that have spent money reverting 20mph in some areas to 30. Replacing or installing signage, for example, is not free. Just last year the Welsh government earmarked £5m to help revert the limit in some areas" FIVE MILLION for one digit on a sign? Why not use the old ones after a brush up.? How many are there 2500? £2000 per sign. Nice work if you can get it. It should be put out to tender. No project management . They gave a spreadsheet with coordinates and the old signs in storage. Better of course to leave it at 20mph. If there are no camera drivers will use common sense in the main.

The cost of government work is ridiculous. on 19:52 - Sep 2 with 894 views | Whiterockin | The default 20mph in Wales is one of the main factors for the complete demise of Labour in Wales. I'm starting to think it wasn't that bad.

The last sentence though, sorry but that just does not tally with what I see every day. The number of people ignoring speed limits and not just doing more than 20, around here some people are clearly doing much more than 30 in a 20 zone. Then there's the stamdard of that driving, forcing their way through gaps, ignoring the highway code, driving dangeroulsy. There are far too many idiot drivers out there and they need dealing with. It's these idiots that kill and injure people.

Data suggests the concept of a possibly unreasonable 20 mph limit has resulted in lowe average speeds by 4-5 mph which reduces death and injuries. The problem here I suspect was the imposition of such a controversial law without it first being done in England. Wales is a nation of followers not leaders it seems to me. This may be the result of decades of Socialism which generally favours centralisation of power not localised leadership. If Tice wants to cut waste then leave the remaining 20 mph in place. I can see it coming to Urban England anyway in the future.

Nearly half a million signed the petition against the default speed limit. Ask any of those if they will be voting Labour in the Senedd elections in eight months and you will see why Labour are trailing in a distant third in the polls. It appears you are completely out of touch with the Welsh population you continually slander.

There are 20mph speed limits in many parts of England, the difference there is that the lower speed limit have been introduced selectively at a local level by councils as opposed to what’s happened in Wales where the guidance is so prescript local authorities are covering their positions by introducing the speed limits as opposed to contesting. There is another side to the agreement which is rarely put forward which is in many places where the 20mph is in place the residents in those areas are very happy with the lower limit, …… but they aren’t happy when the 20mph limit is on other roads, for example which they use to commute.

Hence the reason they deface the speed limit signs making the road much more dangerous than it originally was.
