Small steps.

I do believe that "man" should not stop exploring and discovering and that this is a trait that I would say is built into us as an evolutionary survival of the fittest type thing. Others may say that it's the free will permitted by a deity of their choice. It matters little so ling as we keep pushing the boundaries.

The moon is the first and easiest step. Travelling further presents all sorts of issues like the time required, radiation, keeping crews healthy etc.

Quite right Mush,
I met the last man on the Moon, Gene Cernan, at the Science Museum about 20 years ago. They have a space exploration section there including a lunar lander. He did a talk for about 45 minutes about his personal memories of that Apollo 17 mission describing it as his most beautiful adventure. My daughter, who was about 9 at the time, was one of two kids chosen to help him with a demo during his talk. As a result we were invited to stay behind after his talk had finished. He spent about 10 mins singing autographs and posing for pictures then spent over half an hour chatting to me & my daughter. She got to go up the steps and into the lunar lander! On STRICT instructions to touch nothing!! Even so, an amazing moment to see her appear from the lander at the top of the steps when you think of what that meant in context. Fascinating guy to talk to, an infectious smile and was still so passionate about the further exploration of space. Half an hour of my life I will never forget.
Sadly he passed away in early 2017, A brilliant guy. GC RIP.

Nice to bring a bit of comedic light relief to proceedings during these dark days Mush. 56 years and counting or 53 if you believe.....

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

I met and had a short chat with Buzz Aldrin a good few years back at the Goodwood Revival Meeting.

He was wandering around alone carrying a clip board whilst judging the best aeroplane competition.

There was no “ edge” to him whatsoever, if anything he was a little self effacing.

To this day every time I look at the moon I find it strange to comprehend that I’ve spoken to someone who has actually stood there.

I wonder how many "astronauts" are freemasons? Oh. wait, its all of them!

Is that because they all need to keep a secret ?

Good old Stanley Kubrick. What a great job he did. And he told us about it in interviews and The Shining. Watch the documentary Room 237. Before they had him killed, that is.

Although the excellent documentary "The Clockwork Shining" also covers the dark MK-Ultra side of all that
