One of Blair’s and New Labours’ flagship schemes which didn’t get through as it was deeply unpopular at the time. Now they are re marketing it as a way to clamp down on illegal immigrants being able to work as employers will need to check their right to work through this central database.
Of course they are ignoring the basic facts:
A) Employers already have to check right to works on employment anyway and have had to do so for a number of years already.
B) illegal immigrants generally disappear into the black market and gig economy which this will not affect in the slightest.
Is this a good idea? Is it further evidence to the suggestion that Blair is still pulling the strings?

For some time South Wales Police have been at the forefront facial recognition development in the U.K. They have their own cameras and they can also route 3rd party cctv systems through their facial recognition systems to identify offenders and suspects. They can ID and detain suspects before they get anywhere near a turnstile. |

I never said it was a good idea. It's the logical step though, for an authoritarian government which is what labour seems to be becoming.
Lets face it they already know where we are, what we are doing and how much we are spending 24/7. The police can pull you over and if you have 3k of your own cash you have to justify it, go to the bank to withdraw that cash and the bank will ask you why and could even refuse to let you have YOUR OWN MONEY.
