One of Blair’s and New Labours’ flagship schemes which didn’t get through as it was deeply unpopular at the time. Now they are re marketing it as a way to clamp down on illegal immigrants being able to work as employers will need to check their right to work through this central database.
Of course they are ignoring the basic facts:
A) Employers already have to check right to works on employment anyway and have had to do so for a number of years already.
B) illegal immigrants generally disappear into the black market and gig economy which this will not affect in the slightest.
Is this a good idea? Is it further evidence to the suggestion that Blair is still pulling the strings?

I haven't checked widely into the truth behind this but it would seem that the organisation that will likely be involved in the rollout of the Digital ID is faltering tech company Multiverse....owned by .....Euan Blair.
It lost £60m last year but was still valued at £1.4bn propped up by a US Venture Capiatalists whip round. Euan has shares valued at £420m. Old Tony boy also has shares alleged to be around the £375m figure.
What better way of bailing your son's firm out of the sh*t and making stacks of money than inflicting an expensive ID card scheme on the British public - one that is not wanted or needed but a nice little earner?
I would also expect Tony's old billionaire chum Larry Ellison and Oracle to be involved again.
