I’m still not sure of his actual name, which I think he would probably like, but in a night of unwatchable dross, the only thing keeping me awake was this fellas full on proper left back performance.

Up and down the pitch, right place right time, all done without any razzmatazz.

Welcome to our club.

Esquerdinha will never be 6ft tall though and we desperately need some height in the team 😂😂😂

Esquerdinha is exactly 6ft tall. Norrington-Davies is 5ft 11".

5’11 1/2” 😠

But yes, you’re right. Haven’t seen much of Esquerdinha but at least I’ve learned to spell his name😃

Strong and stable my arse.

He’s a perfectly serviceable LB at this level and on the face of it a decent signing as we needed depth there.

My only issue with him is that we’ve spent two years being condescended about the #project. We will buy low, develop and sell high and have to lose some game in the pursuit of that.

Now in most cases our young players are frankly crap - Sutton can’t get off the bench for Morecambe bottom of the conference ffs.

But we have a decent young LB who we could actually be developing and yet he’s riding the bench learning nothing. And of course there are some good wingers at this level where we will need RND’s experience, Esquardinha vs Fatawu or Thomas would require defibrillators on standby in the crowd , but Oxford are crap. We are too but they another matter. Last night Eswuardinha should’ve been playing the 90 and learning something, rather than Sheff Utds player.

Or it could be the #project is all bullsht to justify the existence of catastrophically under qualified and under delivering CEO….but again that another topic.

Or, radical thought, a lot of fans trust a coach with a lot of experience developing youth players to decide on his pathway rather than fans who think dogmatically playing 19 year olds no matter what is the answer?

As others have said this is a weird obsession, especially when he’s doing the same thing with Morgan and Kolli without any memes getting created.

I would agree if you didn’t list two players who don’t have any long term future at the club as examples 😐

He’s going to get the odd game at the very least but even if that’s all it is I wouldn’t say he’s learning nothing and he clearly has a lot to learn. It’s a massive change for him and unrealistic that he could just slot in as first choice from day one. He probably wasn’t first choice anyway until Larkeche’s injury and has played some part in five league games out of eight.

A small negative of playing a team of toddlers in the League Cup is you burn opportunities to blood guys like him who are close to being ready to play regularly but not quite there.
