Once again David Artell’s Blundell Park outfit are playing out of their skins and possibly above their abilities and have not only secured a high-flying top three League Two position but also are enjoying a great Carabao Cup run with Brentford next at their stadium.
So, we can expect a difficult game on Saturday live on Sky Sports + at 3pm but Colchester have started to hit some decent form of late themselves and I expect our form to continue with a 3-1 deserved win to maintain our climb up the table.
Weather will be 11 degrees Celsius with sunny intervals and light winds.
Team:
Smith
KVY Araujo Tucker Iandolo
Payne Read Bishop
Anderson Lisbie Mbick
Subs: Kuffour Macey Gordon Hunt Edwards Williams Powell
Safe journey to the travelling faithful.
Sadly, I won’t be present on Saturday and so will miss out on Papas Fish n chips, on Cleethorpes Pier but I will watch on Sky.
Gerry, enjoy the game and the three points.

You are right about the Harvey booking. Didn't do himself any favours by smirking after receiving the card. I thought the ref might disallow the second due to a raised foot from Mbick, but thankfully he saw sense and a beautiful goal was scored.
Didn't Danny also get booked? The Grimsby fans, and manager, seem pretty upset about the "high foot" from Mbick. For me the ball was there to be won and the defender had to stoop a fair bit to try and head it. Feel like we haven't had a lot of luck this season so it made a change for something to go our way. A great performance and more importantly result. Can we make it three (four) in a row against Harrogate on Saturday? Normally we dominate them and lose 1-0.

Pretty certain Danny did get booked as well as Harvey - so six cards for the U's. Honestly though, the Grimberian tears over Mbick's goal have been absolutely hilarious to witness - all a bit embarrassing tbh.
Just had a look at the goal on YouTube slo-mo - firstly, excellent ball from Lisbie in the first place. It's dropping down at waist height for Mbick to control it beautifully, completely in front of the defender, who for some reason was stooping to try and get his head on it a foot behind Mbick. Not dangerous play at all.

Very silly on their part to suggest dangerous play.
Whereas, Chelmsfords game on Saturday. Take a look at their No22 at about 30 seconds in. He initially protests at it being given as a foul, never mind the yellow.
He's lucky not to be on a charge of attempted murder!

Ouch!
To be honest, some of the defending on display from both sides could be considered a crime against humanity. That tap-in from Chelmsford's no. 33 was expertly taken though - he could do a job for us

Even ST would have put that one way, although he’d have probably made hard work of it last Tuesday.
You’re right about their 33. Come January, I recon he could be ours for a gallon of white line paint and a new grass box for a 27” Qualcast deluxe.
If we put him in the U41s for a couple of weeks and then on loan for a month, DC and the local journos could pass him off as yet another product of our academy.
It’s win-win.
P.S. In all seriousness, after the tragic death of poor Billy Vigar, trying to put someone in the advertising hoardings should be a straight red and 10 match ban.
