Trust AGM? 17:21 - Oct 17 with 3402 views | judd | Am I correct in thinking that the Trust AGM is to be held tomorrow morning? I cannot see anything on social media that I use, and given the desire of the organisation to be all-inclusive, am finding the behaviour somewhat at odds with what a member-led organisation that is trying to attract further members, should be doing. This, don't forget, from an organisation that was, for the first time ever, forced to hold an EGM by members using the correctly defined process for calling such a meeting, which was met with delay and obfuscation every step of the way, including emails being sent anonymously. The minutes of the EGM took 53 days to reach members, whereas CAB meetings are reported on in around 2 days of late. In response to one of two emails sent in by members complaining about a safeguarding issue, an internal series of responses was inadvertently shared with one of the concerned members, the email thread from Trust board members referring to members as "Toxic five" and a "mob". Think about it. Safeguarding concerns leaked amidst abuse of members following the procedure laid down by the Trust. I am aware that one of these complaints remains outstanding, awaiting a conclusion. Probably the same for the other. There has to be a reason for the silence, pretty much as the way the process of electing a Trust main board director was pushed upon members ( this decision had been taken before the end of last season from what I am hearing). The EGM was informed that several applications had been received , but when nominations were closed, only a serving Trust board member had actually applied (the aforementioned fait accompli). If you are a current Trust member reading this, ask yourself if such behaviour of a member-elected board in railroading decision making through without proper consultation and accountability is how you want the Golden Share to be managed. (I think the Community Trust should be the custodian in any case.) I do hope that the AGM will be quorate - 20 members or 5% of the membership as defined in the Trust Model Rules.

Trust AGM? on 08:58 - Oct 20 with 481 views | Daleaholic | The trust has had its day. I was a member but won't be renewing my membership with it in its current guise. The Trust has been needed and has been vital to the survival of the club at times. Through the hard work and dedication of the volunteers who have come and gone. I do feel however, that it's no longer fit for purpose and should be disbanded. There's other supporter groups doing the work the Trust should be doing and more. Dale1907 & Her Game Too groups are visible and making real efforts to forge connections between the fans and the club/team. What are the trust doing? Other than asking people to pay money for a membership card?

Trust AGM? on 10:09 - Oct 20 with 414 views | dawlishdale | It's very sad to read about the recent shortcomings of the Trust. I might be wrong, but it seems to be something of a rudderless ship since the sudden departure of it's last (and possibly best) Chair. Having been a member for donkeys years and involved at Board level for 12 years, I am dismayed that I no longer get newsletters or indeed any membership reminders etc, which I always used to get. It seems like the Trust can't be bothered asking for my money or keeping me updated. Sadly, as a direct result of this, I have let my membership lapse. I also hear stories about infighting and disagreements at Board level, which just needs to stop. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but since the Trust had Main Board representation, things have gone downhill. By all means; work alongside the club and the Board, but once a seat is taken on the Club Board, it risks removing the ability to challenge them and puts the person with a foot in both camps in a difficult position; having to be loyal to both. Serving on the Trust Board is not some award for being a "superfan" It is putting something back into the club we all love, and can be very time consuming and thankless at times.

You make some very valid points there. But I don't think it has had its day. It just needs to reflect on why it exists, and how it can reconnect to the fanbase and it's members. A successful football club with happy fans generally has an active supporters club. Its not about just saving the club when things go wrong, its about ensuring that we feel like we have a stake in the club and that opinions are heard and ideas shared. The Trust has been wrestling within itself since it took on the fight to save the club. I am sure it was exhausting and bruising for the volunteers and those that helped them. I don't think the Trust Board has recovered, and now we are in a period of calm, it is time to reflect on their role and how they can reconnect. Because one day, a healthy and thriving Trust will need to represent the fans again, when things are going off course. There is no guarantee that the Ogdens will always have our back (there is no implied suggestion in that comment). The new forums you allude too are all very laudable, but they have been set up by the club management and the club will always drive their agenda. The Trust should always be independent. I suspect the reason for not communicating the member numbers is the poor level of renewals. In effect, the Trust is embarrassed and needs to come clean and seek fans support. I too have not renewed this year. I had every intention of doing so, but I thought the behaviour of the Trust towards those fans on here wanting an EGM was disgraceful. The way the 'Trust on the Board' role was communicated and designed was also disgraceful. The lack of communication to members after George's resignation was shocking. It has lost its way, but it can recover it. I really hope it does. Disbanding it now would be a sign of failure and signal a lack of unity amongst the fans. Apathy is a terrible state to be in - whether as a fan or a Trust. Elect a Board that the fans can resepct and get behind, be really clear about your purpose and your objectives, now and into the future, and engage, engage, and engage. [Post edited 20 Oct 11:34]
