Parking at Derby 12:29 - Oct 21 with 1444 viewsfournil

Not been before - coming from the North. As it's another soulless bowl in a retail park does anyone have any nuggets of where to park other than the official non-official parking that looks to be about 20 mins away and costs a tenner?
Cheers

Last year I went and there was a Pay and Display around a few mins walk from the Harvester where R's fans met. (its on Hudson Road as just looked at map)

Cost about £5-6 from memory. There is also parking at the Harvester but limited spaces.

I have booked the non-official parking that looks to be about 20 mins away and costs a tenner, as from looking at it, I am hoping for a quicker getaway. yes its a 20 min walk, but last year it was probably a 10 min walk to the car from the ground and then I sat in a queue for an hour getting away.

There is restriced parking all down the road from Harvester, all the way to the ground, however those with a disabled parking permit parked along there and it was 'rammed' (excuse the pun!)

Its quite some years since I've been but I remember there being lots of parking in some of the industrial/ex-industrial areas around the stadium.

I would say when it comes to place explaining how far something is to walk to, you can almost always convert it as a "fat American" pace, and therefore take a good chunk of time off for what it would take a normal person to need.

Thanks for the advice.
It's a good point regarding getting away, have been stuck in numerous traffic jams trying to get out of car parks etc near to grounds. Looks like i'll be booking the official unofficial parking at the conference centre.

I remember the old Baseball ground.

We used to park just round the corner from the ground in someone’s front garden, or as they used to call it, the pavement.

It's pretty hopeless for free parking nearby, whole locale has a retail park slash industrial estate vibe with yellow lines everywhere, don't think I've ever seen so many blue badges in cars before.
Yes, you might be able to pay to get on a forecourt or something but it's a bad gridlock afterwards - all those blue badge holders are pretty spry in terms of getting back to their cars...
So, I normally end up parking on or just off London Road (A6) which is a 10/15 min walk away. It's kind of the first residential area you come to South of the ground. It's good afterwards as the traffic's moving by then and the A6 will hook up with Derby's outer traffic system and get you wherever you want to be heading.

There is no decent parking around the ground. Coming from the south, I'd look to park on London Road, or 1 of the roads off. Otherwise Chester Green is about 20 mins walk to the ground. You'll save that trying to get away.

Try The Smithfield on Meadow Road. Real ale pub, by the river. I wouldn't show off colours but there's never been any aggro when I've been in before. About 10 mins walk to the ground, alo side the river.

Thanks that's great. Derby. We're low key so should be fine.

Just the local harvester for away fans, they put portable wagon in the garden to save queuing 10 deep at the bar which it was last year.
