| Take Me Out to the Ballgame on 09:01 - Oct 22 with 363 views | slmrstid | Back in 2016 me & Mrs SLM did a 2-week west coast tour of the US (Boston -> New York -> Philadelphia -> Washington). We went to see the Red Sox in Boston, tickets we bought before we went. They got trashed by the Orioles (it felt very QPR as the boos rang round the stadium as the Orioles hit two home runs in an innings and stretched their lead...) Found them overall very snooty though, the attitude of a staff member I had a mini-chat with in the club shop in the afternoon of the game was dismissive of anyone non-Bostonian going to watch the Red Sox, and whilst I enjoyed the experience it felt very much like going to watch Liverpool with the Fenway Sports connection. All the history, all the arrogance etc... When we were in Philadelphia we picked up a couple of tickets to watch the Phillies as they had a home series against the Mets whilst we were there and we could see the stadium lit up from our ridiculously high hotel room. Absolute opposite experience. Went into the club shop before the game, employee clocks we're two British people, got really excited that a couple of British tourists had decided to come and watch his team, dived into his pocket and pulled out a baseball card for us of the home ground (a much more modern facility than Fenway Park!) then went into the backroom to give us a certificate to certify our first game at Citizens Bank Park. Its absolutely the sort of thing thats actually intended for children but he was so genuine and so enthusiastic that we were really touched by the gesture. So as a result, I have a much bigger soft spot for the Phillies. They were also crap at the time which brought me much more into my sporting comfort blanket with supporting QPR, and the game that night went on forever and was God-awful quality, eventually finishing 2-1 to the Phillies were it felt like anyone trying to score a run was like, in Clive's words, trying to sh*t a snooker table. Again, much more QPR! | | | |
| Take Me Out to the Ballgame on 09:14 - Oct 22 with 344 views | aston_hoop | Went to watch the Copa America around the US last year and one of the gameless nights in Houston, we went to watch Astros play against Orioles. It was a Friday night, steaming hot, and some kind of family night involving fireworks and $5 beers. Had a cracking time and it finished 14-11, great use of an evening and everyone was very friendly. Fun mix of locals and large groups of Venezuelans who had traveled to see some Venezuelan bloke who played for them. Think the tickets themselves cost something like $15 too, honestly just a great value night. And I know nothing about baseball, but doesn't take long to get to grips with! | |

Yeah we had a similar experience watching the Mets when we went in 2018, got given first match certificates. Went back a couple of years ago, enjoyed it so much we went two nights in a row So Blue Jays first, but we have a soft spot for the Mets (obviously preferred to the Yankees!)

| Take Me Out to the Ballgame on 09:20 - Oct 22 with 338 views | BklynRanger | I've probably said before, I was a Yankees fan when I first moved to NY, but was quickly schooled that they were in fact c*nts so I bought into that fully and became a Mets fan. The recent Ryder Cup misbehaviour reminded me that, regardless of their team, New York sports fans are often pretty hard to be around at a game after a couple of Buds and a hearty feed of processed meat. When I started watching the Mets lose it was in Shea Stadium, which was massive, so you'd have plenty of room to sit in a quieter corner and watch the planes land at La Guardia with a brief glance at what was (usually not) going on at the plate. When they moved to Citi Field, while a great stadium,.everyone was a lot more tightly packed, and you'd be closer to the sort of finely crafted brain dead shyte that Rory and co were last month. Anyway, every year around this time since coming back here I decide I need to find a better way to stay in touch with highlights. I know I've asked before but am open to any good updates on that. I'm going to make a point this winter to sort this out in time to watch a far richer Mets team lose next season. [Post edited 22 Oct 9:25]

| Take Me Out to the Ballgame on 09:59 - Oct 22 with 279 views | robith | I have a mate who is a big Mariners fan, so I went to T Mobile park last October when I was doing a West Coast road trip. Saw Cal Raleigh hit a homer and fell in love. Pain. Rodriguez with a runner on base, Big Dumper in next and swinging at ball 4, having already blown a 2-0 and 3-2 series lead. Guess this is being a Mariners fan. Funny how starting watching from scratch I instantly understood that the Yankees and the Dodgers are the bad guys | | | |

YouTube mate. They post a 20 minute highlight reel of every game. I either watch it on the train or cycle in early and watch it before work. Each team's instagram is great. The MLB site also has a great story of the game page with little rolling highlight clips. Which is weird, cos if you wanted to keep up with football no one would say "The Premier League website", but genuinely, it does a really good job
| Take Me Out to the Ballgame on 10:36 - Oct 22 with 228 views | thame_hoops | id recommend watching the London series MLB games at West Ham although they weren't back this year and next year wont be possible (due to the World Cup and Metallica or someone playing the olympic stadium) It's a fun day out, you can always get tickets for less than cost in the days leading up. always a fun atmosphere | | | |
