The very strange case of Jack for Leo 09:42 - Oct 28 with 1157 viewsJellybaby

Standing behind the goal at Ewood Park on Saturday, I witnessed first hand the total disbelief amongst the fans when our new hero and best chance of securing the game was withdrawn.

If he had been replaced by Jay Robinson, then the fans would have stomached it, but to be replaced by a 6th defender against a poor and under confident Blackburn, who were there for the killing became an act of incredulity. The fact that it was the much maligned Captain Jack coming on was such an absurd act that I am left wondering if it was an act of self sabotage.

If you add the bizarre decisions made during the game to the ones made prior with squad selection then it was almost like this eminently winnable game was thrown.

Is a very short lived managerial reign becoming an astute business model for those who want to make a quick buck?

Like others, I hoped the computer kid would deliver, that he was the "child prodigy", but this experiment looks set to fail in spectacular fashion and we, the fans are left wondering if that was always the idea.

I wholly disapprove of what you say and will defend to the death your right to say it.

We fell for the fad of appointing very young managers.

As this is what Brighton and others have done, it must be the solution.

And Spors is a buffoon who also has to go.

He was responsible for the utter waste of money (Scienza and Fellows apart), the appointment of the manager and the 3-year contract extension for Stephens.

It's an absolute mess.

It speaks volumes when things are so unbelievably bad that we can't believe they are down to incompetence alone.

And, Jelly, you know that I always prefer 'cock up' to conspiracy when tying to understand things, but I confess that I have had the same thought as you! Can a club/its owners really be *this* incompetent ?!

Not only was it a quick buck for WS it was an escape route for him to get back to England.
It was public knowledge that his partner had been unwell & he understandably wanted to be nearer to her & spend more time with her.
SR gave him that opportunity & he grabbed it, can't really blame him for that & he can't actually help not being good enough to manage / Coach at this level.
All the blame lies 100% with SR who have added this mistake to the numerous ones they have made before.

You can’t blame any of the duds that have been appointed.
It’s not their fault they aren’t good enough.

We thought that we had the answers, It was the questions we had wrong.

Indeed, when the hero is being replaced by the anti-hero and you go from 1-0 to 1-2 and you bring on an un-named, un-numbered, unproven sub, who's mistake costs you the game, these are such audaciously bad decisions that it has more than the sniff of self sabotage.

Too right we can't blame them. I've appointed an agent and am getting my CV ready for when Still goes.

I was pretty good at Subbuteo back in the day.

There may be some truth in the self-sabotage theory. How else can such ridiculous decisions be explained.

In is either a case of self-sabotage or extreme stupidity. Either way, SR need to replace him.

Unless someone is betting against us somewhere...mmm...

The last time the incompetence was this extreme were those mental no balls by the Pakistani bowlers at Lords a few years back...

No. It cannot possibly be corruption. That would have been much better managed.
