Random irritations.. on 21:19 - Jun 14 by johann28 | Well now. I wandered into the new Spoons in Waterloo today. Got a pint, sat down contemplating my sad life. etc Then, surrounded by heavies, asked to leave. I asked to see the manager. He says, 'you're drunk'. I asked' where's the evidence that I'm drunk?' Abusive? |Disorderly? He says 'you're slurring your words' Out. I swear on my mother's grave this is true. I'm gobsmacked. What's going on? |
Even if you weren't that inebriated, what a strange place to find someone slurring their words. A pub that sells the cheapest alcohol !! Also, slurring your words is not always because of drink. People who have experienced a stroke often have trouble with vocal clarity and deaf people can speak in this way and someone who either has a stutter or a speech impediment. Bouncers R Us perhaps need to up their recruitment game.....

My Mum sends stuff via signed for & guaranteed delivery for birthdays, Christmas etc. and pays LOADS for the privilege of a basic service. Can I just add society's requirement that everything needs to get feedback? Just had to make a call about changing something minor on an insurance policy - a 5 minute call. I had to listen to almost 3 minutes of preamble including why my comments are so important and that I'd get a follow up call to ask what I thought of the service. To change a direct debit? Why do I have to rate - and then explain - whether I thought the person was courteous, professional, and attentive? This was a big firm and the person probably does 6 calls an hour, 50 a day. What are they going to do with all that information? Sod all. [Post edited 3 Sep 9:59]

My missus used to work in retail for a high-end high street jewellers and sending out and following up with these sorts of questions did their head in. They hated doing it because they knew it was pointless and just got ignored. They knew the customers weren't interested but they were virtually forced to get answers out of them. Yeah, great way to pi$$ off your customer base. [Post edited 5 Sep 6:41]

Random irritations.. on 22:55 - Sep 29 with 998 views | stevec | News piece about two new towns proposed to be built in London, citing Enfield golf club and talking to members about losing their course to the development. My sympathies were initially with them after hearing some considerable moaning about the injustice of it all but the cameras then cut to two members on the green lining up to play their putts at the same time and as if that wasn’t bad enough, one of these bellends then walked straight across the other fellas line as he was putting. They don’t deserve a golf course, hope they build all over it. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Has anyone ever pressed yes and offered 25 pence more for an already pricey milk carton !! Progress !!

Tesco are great for this at their self check outs - would I like to give to charity? Er sure but maybe you could give on my behalf with all the gazillions that you have?? Sad to say as I get older I'm more cynical about what charities actually do with our money (not saying that there are some that do good work). Look at all the charity ads they run during daytime TV. Just feels like another method employed to deprive people of their hard-earned wages/pensions...

I remember seeing a documentary (Ch 4 I think) years ago about a (reasonably high profile IIRC) charity that was basically a legitimate scam. Very plush offices in Victoria, CEO and all the Exec''s on very high salaries + bonuses etc, lavish 'fund raising' events and so on. Once all this had been accounted for, something like a couple of pence in the pound actually went to the cause they were 'supporting'. It was basically all done to fund their own lifestyle and the public were paying for it.
