Hill on the radio 17:51 - Nov 25 with 20160 views442Dale

What happened? Almost no mention whatsoever of the game and talking about chants he heard, doesn't like it when "our own supporters are singing disrespectful songs about us". Even Wagg made a point of saying that being sat right behind the dugout he was very unsure about what Hill was talking about.

What were the chants? A massive shame that he isn't focusing on a great win after a clever change in tactics by the manager.

As a main stander myself, most games I cannot make out the singing from either end, it is so quiet. Football chants are very often in poor taste, if the rules at spotland were applied rigorously , hundreds of people would be ejected every game, me included. 'The referee's a winker' is swearing, and disrespectful to the bas**** in the black for example. Mr Hill is very thin skinned.

The loyalty card is an interesting one. Seem to recall he said he was not leaving before doing that and going to Barnsley. I don’t really have an issue with furthering his career but he would be better off remembering not to let his alligator mouth rule his sensitive mouses brain when it comes to interviews and such. Great manager yes but he is getting to the stage he is untouchable - nobody is bigger than the club Keith!!!

Whilst not wanting to resurrect fish and chip paper

anybody see the Holloway rant last night at QPR fans?

On live Sky TV as well. Proper laid into them for leaving early and not supporting the team.

Ten times worse than Hilly on the Radio IMO.

Ian Holloway has apologised in a video on qpr's twitter feed, he does it with humour, and it is not something I can see Hill doing

He is

I swear like f*ck at games and appreciate those who help boost the atmosphere but not when it starts making news for the wrong reasons (whether misinterpreted or not)

I'm not suggesting anyone should be ejected, banned or confronted

A quiet word from someone with a bit of sense who knows these lads would go a long way

Does sound silly and unimaginative, I heard them from the main stand ( I sit near the net in front of the sandy) and I heard the we’re winning at home song which I thought was stupid so Hill would of heard it. If we win on Saturday and win the next three after that then Hill will be able to put two fingers up to his critics on here. Until then he shouldn’t be going into interviews slagging our fans off because of a few kids in the corner with naff chants. The best revenge is success.

He is indeed a miracle worker if we win on Saturday 😉

Thought the Bradford game was this Saturday, not that it takes away from the sentiment of the post.

Really good interview tonight. Especially the bit at the end.

Not that anyone would forget about being honest just because they get a new manager or something...

Well you’ve got one guy on here who makes a post complaining about the drummer and his mates after every game. And after a few lads sang get your tits out to a busty bird at Oldham the other week the message board went into meltdown with posters like Shun decrying the misogynistic society we live in and Mark1 feeling the need to let us all know that he’s opposed to all forms of sexism, racism, homophobia and transphobia and is a green socialist whatever that means. Some people are quite triggered by pretty standard football crowd behaviour it would seem. Hill should keep his gob shut and keep it in mind not to offend the punters.

And we've got one guy on here who makes a point of reacting every time someone takes issue with what's being chanted

I've stood in the Sandy and chanted shite when I was their age, and I don't "have a go" for the sake of it, but times have changed and the publicity received by the club this week should be enough for you to think twice, just as it should be for the manager

You pass comment on the drummer and his mates after every single game. That’s perfectly up to you even though it’s painfully obvious you’ve got an intense dislike of the younger end., personally I think this whole affair is a bit of a storm in a tea cup and the manager as an employee of the club should reign it in before he goes off complaining about the fans to every two but reporter.

If you're going to take on the mantle of their apologist, you might at least try to get your facts right

I've no problem with the drummer, although I can understand why others might be irritated with it; or with boosting the atmosphere through chanting

My concern, and that of others, is with chants which create a very negative image for the club. It should be your concern too. You're spending a lot of time on something you claim not to be concerned about, a "storm in a teacup"

He hasn't misunderstood though. The fans did sing 'how shit must you be - we are winning at home' - it's a stupid chant - we aren't shit at home, we are hard to beat and Blackburn apart - we've been ok. Now if we win away and the fans sing it then that's another story - you can't deny the fact that we are shit away.

I only knew of the 'sacked in the morning' chant. Hadn't heard reference to the others

How can I take on the mantle of apologist when nobody has anything to apologise for. You are rather dramatic.

apologist

noun

a person who offers an argument in defence of something controversial.
"an enthusiastic apologist for fascism in the 1920s"

synonyms: defender, supporter, upholder, advocate, proponent, exponent, propagandist, apostle, champion, backer, promoter, campaigner, spokesman, spokeswoman, spokesperson, speaker, arguer, enthusiast

----------------------------------------

A simple google of the term 'apologist' would've told you it's got nothing to do with apologising

tbf a fan with a drum is "pretty standard football crowd behaviour". A bunch of LADS telling a busty bird to get her tits out isn't really "pretty standard football crowd behaviour".

Seemed a bit more composed today:

- looking at financial fair play there’s a lot more spending in league 1 he’s ever seen
- goal is always to avoid relegation

- he’ll never stand in the way of players moving on discussed Lund, Laing and Allen
- mentions of Rochdale is a good place for young players

- likes checkatrade trophy and u23 sides in it
- respects it and has told adshed it’s his trophy. As long as we’re in it, he’ll play

- respects Slough and thinks it’ll be a tough game

- said on Saturday he was emotional due to loss of friend
- mentions the fans have been magnificent and they’re the lifeblood of club
- doesn’t like the stick managers get - referenced Martin oNeill.

- all in all, cane across very well but still I think he’s missing something with ‘abuse’ from Saturday

He said many positive things but for me it wasn't enough. The conversation between the two presenters immediately after Hilly went was along the lines of ' I can't believe that after bringing so much success Hill is still getting criticism from fans at Rochdale'. Hilly should have came out and admitted he got it wrong- that would have stopped any discussion after taking place and us fans being labelled completely wrongly by the media.

As has been said before on this thread- mud certainly does stick.

He has just lost his mate when your in mourning your fragile to people having a go at you over any little thing let alone perceiving people booing and calling for your head. He's come out and complimented the fans that's enough I dont need him to Grovel. Heres hoping for a big draw on monday night and a win against Slough.
