Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 13:50 - Mar 15 by Daley_Lama | My simple maths are that blocks U and V, two nearest to WMG will equate to circa 500 for Sunderland and block W will be empty. This based on the fact that those of us having to move can only move to X Y and Z. From the letter.... ‘the fact that we are playing Sunderland in a competitive fixture for the first time in our 112-year History(sic) shows how far as a club RAFC have progressed’ Or ‘the fact that we are playing Sunderland in a competitive fixture for the first time in our 112-year history shows how far as a club SUFC have dropped’ |

Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 15:03 - Mar 15 with 3249 views | TrueDaleBlue | The most simple of solutions for this game and to maximise revenue would to make the Wilbutts lane stand available to home fans only, and give Sunderland the rest of the ground. Also those that think the Dale trust hasn’t been consulted about this, and should step in and do something on behalf of the fans they represent, behave yourselves. Just look at that farcical end of season presentation on the pitch last season, the trust and Dale board came up with that between them. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Great idea, but the end of season farce was down to toys being flung out of the pram, and not by the Trust.

No-one's suggested the Trust should step in - i made the point it's too late for that The real question is why was there no (apparent) consultation when there were supposed to be open lines of communication?

Box holders would disagree and it'd stop us pushing the old prawn sandwich deals we do. Also the 3400 or whatever that stand is allowed to hold would potentially not be enough for the home fans.

I'm sorry...but you are wrong. Let's be 100% clear about this. Last season's fiasco was absolutely down to the ego of one person alone. Said person is now employed by the football club.

Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 13:17 - Mar 15 by James1980 | I think block U which contains 532 seats will be used to house the mackems and the section of V where the seating doesn't go to the back of the stand will be used for segregation. Have Sunderland fans caused any grief on the road this season? As far as I know we were impeccably behaved in the north east, so hopefully they give Rochdale the same respect. |
Wycombe fans weren’t too happy about the Mackems ripping out their seats and hurling them. Ironically it was part of a stand that the regulars had to vacate to accommodate the visitors as well!

Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 20:57 - Mar 14 by James1980 | Just did a bit of research. If my counting was correct section U in the Pearl Street holds 532 and 289 of those seats are reserved by season ticket holders. I will guess the segregation netting will mean a further 45 ST holders in section V will need to be moved so that is 334 ST fans being told to move. It will be interesting to know how the letter is worded. |
Not necessarily, James. There’s nothing to suggest those 334 ST-holders all sit in their allocated seats. Given that this is a corner block and the central blocks are generally more popular I would doubt it. I had a ST for a few years in the TDS and had no idea where my reserved seat was - my pals and I all just sat wherever we found empty stickerless seats.

Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 20:07 - Mar 14 by BlueDales | We've had numerous big clubs play at Spotland in League matches over the past ten years or so. Both Sheffield clubs, Spurs, Huddersfield, Southampton, Leeds, Wigan, Bradford, Blackburn, Stoke, Notts Forest. Need I go on? Their supporters didn't get allocated any of the home stands - like Sunderland, they'd have sold out any allocation they got regardless of the size of it. This is a bit of a joke. If the board don't believe that we can sell the home ends out for the Sunderland game by putting home fans in them - and without further aggravating our fans - then they don't know our club. Yes, we take in a little bit more by charging higher ticket prices to away fans, but how much of that is lost in extra security costs? More so, what is the cost to club-supporter relations in all of this? Who's board are they - ours or Sunderland's? |
‘If the board don't believe that we can sell the home ends out for the Sunderland game by putting home fans in them - and without further aggravating our fans - then they don't know our club.’ I might be making the wrong inference, but you’re not surely suggesting we might sell out the home ends for this game, are you? I highly doubt there’ll be much more than 3,000 or so home fans.
Sunderland fans to be in the home stands. on 17:49 - Mar 15 with 2934 views | Woowoodale | As a season ticket holder in block W I need to physically go to the ticket office (preferably before tickets go on general sale on March 25th) to get my new ticket. Not entirely sure how I'm going to do that since I'm at uni over 200 miles away until the end of March? Seems like such a hassle just to accommodate an extra 500 away fans and guarantee we'll be out-sung and probably out-numbered in our own ground.

You obviously didn’t attend the fans forum then. David Bottomley said they consulted with the trust. Also the way he deflected the original question about the Town Hall do, I’m guessing you’re wrong about who’s idea it was, especially when she had already sold 100 tickets before it was even put on open sale to the fans.

Surely block V would suffice though. If a determined scrote is prepared to cross one block they will cross 2.

The club consulted with the Trust, and the Trust told the club it wasn’t a good idea, and wouldn’t support it, to replace the traditional end of season awards night. The way the Awards were presented on the pitch last season was down to the club.
