I did hear we were thinking about it not sure how true that was but I wouldn’t want him back as I believe we have better in Rico Henry. If Barbet plays in a back 4 as the left sided central defender he will need a brute alongside him as he won’t dominate defending set pieces.
Handy then that our other centre half is a bald, heavy set German doorman who manhandled Troy Deeney with ease. All he needs is a ball player with a left foot alongside him.
Good effort as a WUM there. Top marks.

I believe he is indeed the proud wearer of nicely trimmed facial hair, Eastside, but frankly its too short to make him a Cajun/Texan rocker of any repute..
Now as for Pamela Anderson..
That’s the first time I’ve ever seen the word Cajun used to describe ZZ Top.

Best thing about this for me is that I now have a Bentford supporter sitting opposite me who is "gutted (we've) signed him for nothing, really good player"
Look forward to this nutter being pictured on Loftus Road pitch holding a blue and white scarf above his head whilst grinning madly
Just keep singing ‘ Come on Barbet, let’s go party, ooh ooh ooh’ That will really wind him up.
I concur, except I suspect wages probably meant we felt we could take a punt on replacing him on a lower wedge
I keep wondering about how much wedge and how the numbers are adding up though. Really wasn't expecting Barbet to be remotely within our budget this season pre-sales - sure he'll be on less than Lynch/Bidwell but that much less? Hmm.

Assume it's a cumulative thing? The combined wages of Cousins, Lynch, Bidwell, Cameron, Wzsolek, Baptiste, Wells and Hemed must be sizeable, maybe £120k p/w? More even? Even if we were to allow 50/60% of that to be re-used as wages we could likely offer Barbet less than Bidwell was on but still more than his Brentford salary, which was likely quite small given he signed 4 years ago from the French 2nd division...
Unlike Hefele last season, players seem to be joining both within our budget and for the right reasons. I think we can be confident that all 3 coming in are on a fraction of what we saved in the summer.

Think it’s always a gamble by the players agent as I understand Barbet was looking for a lot more than we were offering him and that would have been discussed back in January and he would have been able to seek out other clubs since then.He has joined a club that has offered him the chance to stay in London get a regular 1st team start and the best deal which I wouldn’t think would be much more than the 10k a week that we offered him but an increase on what he was on at Brentford.

It was the offer of free flights in the east and complimentary stays and upgrades in (budget) hotels that swung the deal in our favour. He was particularly impressed when he saw the QPR jet and thought about the possibilities of having a jet named after him if he becomes a legend like big Alan.
Something that your owner couldn't match and outside FFP!

I used the Hefele example as he was one that was interested but chose more money elsewhere, despite the fact it meant he inevitably played less at Forest who were on a bit of a splurge. Barbet almost definitely had options for more money elsewhere but a combination of chances in the 1st team in his preferred position and being in a team playing the way he likes for a manager he favours - meant he signed motivated by those reasons rather than purely financial.
We will still be paying him a fair whack though, but as you say, probably not much more than Brentford offered and a lot less than what we paid previous players in the same position.

I don't really understand this one - i.e. how did we manage to compete with other 'suitors'? No disrespect to the other two lads who've come in - there's every reason to be optimistic about both of them. But Barbet?
Is he in the middle of a torid love affair with a woman in Acton and refuses to be more than a bus journey from her at all times?
Has he been electronically tagged by local law enforcement but doesn't want to talk about it?
Does he have several dozen prize chilli plants that couldn't possibly survive the drive north?
I don't get it.

I think a lot of clubs are starting to cut their cloth more carefully this summer and quite simply they may not think he's worth much more! And also, he may just want to stay in London! I think the BFG accepted less money to sign for us than Norwich (the idiot). Players don't always take the biggest cash offer.
Bare bones.
