Are you real? 6 months?
People need jobs, people need a life, a 6 month lockdown dis fine if you don’t have a job, are retired, are in a care home etc etc.
I’m pretty sure most small businesses would not survive a six month lockdown.
As has been said, most will not be ill, let alone need hospitalisation or will die.
People need a sense of perspective because plenty more are Now losing their lives through other causes.
But yeah, let’s have a 6 month lockdown!
Just 6?

It’s nonsense. People who say things like lock down for six months are obviously completely out of touch with real life. It’s a total f*ck you attitude to everyone. The consequences of these lock downs are going to be more deaths than through Covid. It’s a crazy concept because it’s proven not work whilst tanking the economy.
Agree.
Just out of curiousity, does anyone know what the flu mortality rate for this year is?
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

The borders to the region are closed. Police and other security agencies involved. Within the provinces, I’m in Cadiz, towns are being locked down, Jerez de la Frontera is an example. Around 100,000 people. There are others. Curfews are in place everywhere. Normally 11pm to 6am. Bars close at 10pm, no more than six socially distanced per group. Must wear masks in between ingestion. Masked are compulsory everywhere, no excuses.
IF you have no reasonable cause to be crossing the border, 500 euro fine after being locked up for a day or two. IF you breach the town in lockdown rules, same. IF you breach the curfew, it’s a prison term and fine. IF you don’t wear a mask it’s 100 euro fine. Do it three times, and it’s a grand and a prison term.
The people of Spain have a history of dissent, very few are taking any risks, if any, the police are excellent at their jobs here, especially road blocks, they are courteous and respectful, just like in the U.K. However, if you start banging your gums, there is little or no coming back from it. Straight to jail. I’m not saying it’s utopia but the U.K. has never had a lockdown, it doesn’t know what a lockdown is, it never will because the leadership and culture is flawed. Nobody cares about each other. I had to laugh in March when people in the U.K. said they were in lockdown. When clearly they were not.

Didn't the first lockdown work though? What we need is a soft lockdown and yes for a longer period. One where as many businesses as possible can stay open but rule breakers are punished, those who ignore the rules, the party organisers etc, heavy punishments even for those attending and people are told from the off, no warnings, no second chances, if your caught you're punished.
The other option is doing nothing and the way the numbers are going, surely that's not right?
I'd argue that they implemented the lockdowns the wrong way round if they were going to do them at all.
There was not much point in locking everyone down from March to basically August, right through the warmest months of the year when respiratory viruses are usually far less transmissible and virulent, only to lift those lockdowns right as summer was ending and hundreds of thousands of students all go back to class just as cold/flu season starts.
They'd have been better off having their "circuit breaker" from mid- March to Mid April at the latest, then allowing those at least risk of serious complications to go about their lives and contract it in a more manageable way rather than having the flood we do now. How many times were we warned in the summer that the second stage was on the way after VE Day, the BLM protests, beach parties et al. Instead we got nothing.
Would have made more sense to have a significant lock down at this time of year rather than during the summer IMO. Now people are pissed off at the first lockdown and are less compliant with this one. Lockdown fatigue was always going to be a factor.

My mum lives in Tenerife Keith. The Canaries are fortunate in having relatively few cases, but as you say the lockdown was done properly. Winston has Made a good point- an earlier and sharp lockdown around March 12tH could have broken transmission effectively, something we have both argued for in the past.
But we all know what happened. This would have allowed further ‘breaker’ lockdowns when needed. And best applied nationally. When cases spiral up in the SE things may be different.

I'm far from being an expert but I agree with you. This was a cock up from the beginning. All that warm weather, people could have been out exercising, staying sane (well saner maybe) and as you say, we were told it would be worse in the winter, we'd be more accepting of staying at home during the coldest, wettest months. Now people are rebelling, ignoring the rules arguing back.

A lot of is is influenced by hindsight I'll admit, but even at the time I couldn't see the sense in closing parks, beaches, most retailers, and other things during a period of the year when the risks were far lower than they are during the onset of Autumn.
They are being a bit more sensible this time around in letting people travel within certain areas rather than doing stupid things like closing the Fendrod Lake car park. I'll give them credit for that.
Having said that I do have some doubts about the accuracy of current testing (both positive and negative) and the continued tendency towards trying to shoehorn any death into the Covid death rates.

Absolutely.
Regardless of political leaning, I don't envy those having to make the decisions, and if I'm honest I tend to be generous to those reluctant to use lockdowns as anything other than an absolute last resort.

Let's have your explanation then, Mr Brain of Britain
I am open minded, but very suspicious of what is going on, i listen to both sides and look at independent statistics, you are certainly not open minded and either totally bias or really thick or which is most likley the media reports have absolutely scared you witless, you are absolutely baffled and refuse to accept how a country like Sweden who never shut down have had such a small amount deaths during the last six months, you just keep bringing up that they had a lot of care home deaths at the start, which is true, but you just can not grasp or accept or understand that for the last six months there death rates are so small just eight again today i believe, you can not even get over the fact that they have saved thousands of lives just by continuing early diagnosis procedures and normal medical care, all you can say is but there number deaths and cases are higher than Denmark and Norway so they have failed dismally lol.

Sadly,Johnson did not have the guts to go for a full on lockdown and made it worse by taying it wouldnt be enforced. Shop staff told NOT to challange.
Pitiful really
Really how can you expect a shop worker to challenge someone hell bent on disobedience, society's bad enough in normal times and now this , people are on the edge as it is so we shouldn't expect low paid workers to do the dirty work of others .

This.
Some poor sod on minimum wage isn't going to risk aggro challenging people for not wearing masks.Especially since the motivation for doing so in the first place isn't exactly being borne out by the data.

This Tiered approach is a bit of a shambles. The Government have introduced rules etc but at the same time encouraged people and in some cases have intervened to encourage councils not to enforce the legislation. We shouldn’t be dilly dallying around, we have rules or we don’t, simple as. We have the DM and others in denial and stories of Tory MP’s in revolt and want everything opened and others who want everything closed. There has to be common sense and it’s in the middle ground, civil liberties contrasted with rules which will be ruthlessly enforced, and as is the case in Spain take the P... and you’ll get hammered.
