20 is Plenty 22:22 - Jul 5 with 11546 views | BazzaInTheLoft | Reading FC have written to the other 23 Championship clubs to offer a reciprocal ticketing arrangement: Their fans can have away ticket prices capped at £20 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, if Reading supporters can have the same at their ground. Four clubs: Cardiff, Swansea, Blackburn & Huddersfield have already replied and agreed to the offer. Hopefully QPR will too. [Post edited 5 Jul 2022 22:23]

A lot of our season-ticket prices are actually relatively decent value, but our walk-up prices have been a disgrace for years. The club continually say they're only charging what other PL clubs in London charge, but seem to ignore the fact that whilst we're being relegated or fighting relegation, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, and now West Ham, are competing at the top. Arsenal and Tottenham also play in modern, comfortable stadiums with no obstructed views, with great facilities. Our bogs, catering etc are woeful and there are a fair few seats in the Johnny Haynes and Hammersmith with obstructed views. It's long been the case that the club don't give a sh it who buys a ticket, as long as it's sold for the highest price possible. The only people who will pay those prices are Liverpool fans living in the south, ticket touts, and tourists. We see it every time we play one of the big clubs. Our prices in the Championship are obscene, but these are beyond a pis s-take; £50 for a kid, and £65 for a pensioner to sit in the Putney End. £65 is the cheapest adult ticket in the ground (unless you're in the tiny family areas) It's on the fu cking telly, too. Mind you, we'll probably only charge £50 for the Hammersmith End when we play Bournemouth, so that'll be a right result. Even more annoying is that we're soon going to have a fully-open, big old stand to fill, and there's no way you're going to encourage lapsed fans or new fans at those prices. If the bottom tier tickets are £100 a go to watch us v Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City etc, then fu ck knows what they'll be charging for the central top tier prices. It'll be full of tourists and away fans. Pay £50 to become a member, though, and you can get £5 off each game, which brings your Hammersmith End ticket down to a very reasonable £60. I have been steering my son towards our local team, Bristol City, for a whole number of reasons, but one of them was that I refuse to pay our pis s take prices, as it just encourages them, but as I can only get to 6-7 homes games a year, I can't justify season-tickets. I got us both City memberships the other day - £25 each, a fiver off each game, and it now costs £25 per match for the pair of us.
| Fulham FC: It's the taking part that counts |

We are attractive to purists though because of the old school stadium. [Post edited 6 Jul 2022 14:16]

Would they sacrifice their knee caps for £20 though?

20 is Plenty on 14:37 - Jul 6 by Toast_R | Yes I agree, the QPR facilities are pretty awful for the home fans let alone what the away fans get. Reminds me of going to Charlton. 3 Quarters of the ground looks good and roomy then there's the away end and that toilet block that looks like a smack den. |
Yep, I'd rather pay £30, or even £40 for a comfortable seat with an unobstructed view in a modern stadium with decent catering and clean toilets etc, than £20 for, well, you can probably guess where*. * - Goodison Park. Who else did ya think I meant?

Pity your clubs cheapest walk up ticket on the day is £40 with most considerably dearer than that will be interesting to see if the prices remain the same should Brentford return to the Championship

Oh dear, my post wasn't long or complicated, yet you managed to take that from it? Read it again - incl esp the bit about restricted view, as offered to away fans by Everton and Liverpool last season.

In the season just past there were virtually no "walk-up" tickets - games pretty much sold out in advance.. If ypu mean ticket prices for non-ST holders, then yes, they were pretty dear. As against that, you were also getting a brand new stadium with an excellent view of PL football from every seat and facilities to match etc, with both average and top ticket prices, ST or Members, notably cheaper than all other London PL clubs bar WHU. As for the price if/when we get relegated, I would expect them to be reduced - we'll see - and would also note that after Season Tickets were frozen for the Covid season and we came out of it with promotion to the PL, the club honoured the old Championship prices. Oh dear.. you missed my obvious tongue in cheek observation of your little dig at QPR all the while trying to highlight your new status and shiny new stadium. Which you do from time to time. Reading between the lines of your post like.

To be fair you would expect to be considerably cheaper than Chelsea Spurs and Arsenal who are and will continue to compete for Champions League and let's see 5 years down the line should you still be in the Premiership how your prices compare to Palace Fulham and West Ham when you are paying 30k a week to reserve players especially with a 17.250 capacity stadium and your Sugar Daddy having take up his next challenge in life

Bonkers idea, both clubs are short of money, as I suspect are the rest of The Championship. As I recall we were sold out both times home and away last season, explain the logic of reducing the price based on the fact you can't get enough tickets in the first place.... outside of that, Reading are woeful, horribly run club, why help them out with a not so cunning plan?

It’s not based on ticket sales it’s based on encouraging younger (and poorer) fans. Welcome to the board your Lordship!
