thats a spot on observation

We have played some sublime football at times this season...compared to some of the dross I witnessed last season...Grimes and Naughton tapping the ball back and fore 10 yards apart on the halfway line ut also it does appear now we are "safe" we have gone back to MArtinball V!

It was like a sketch out of the Chuckle Brothers - to you, to me, to you.

A few of you on here having a go because others are unhappy because we are 6th in the league. That’s clearly not true. We are debating the game last night and the shortfalls in our play that we’ve experienced on more occasions than we’d like this season. Nothing to do with our league position but more if last night and we won’t be where we are now. That’s plain to see.

People need to stop criticising individuals for having a voice especially when they talk sense. Last night was diabolical and deserves the criticism meted out last night. Blindly following the leader is not a stance I can take but I will compliment him when he gets it right. Sadly the tally sheet is not in his favour on the whole this season but we know he can do it. Just not last night for a large part nor against Bristol City or indeed Cardiff in parts,

Know your best team?
After the loss against Burnley you would have thought as soon as possible Martin would revert back to the team that gave him the best form.

So for me Four changes was just too many.
Would expect the return of Manning instead of Latibeaudie or Sorinola and do you play Piroe instead of Obefemi or Cundle.
Two at most? There is a question of starting with Oko-Flex, so don't change up front
change the second wingback.

Unless there are new injury concerns with Woods I would have started with him instead of Naughton,, he has become the fall guy for not playing well in the first half of games and although we have played better after his substitution it is more about having to come out chase games and eventually other substitutions have made the difference.

Start with your best team to gain the upper hand as early as possible.

If you are worried about players fitness then take them off once the advantage has been gained because we had started to be a bit more resilient, it is easier to defend a lead rather than chase a game.

The only stat that matters is the score and we lost....we take it on the chin, we cant win them all and now we move on.

We have won games with 70% and won with 30%, lost games with 70% and lost with 30%.

Games are won on a pitch not a piece of paper......we will lose games! If you want to support a team who wins every game with a perfect manager then get on your bikes and look for one.........you will be looking for a very long time.

Spot on with one caveat Daps, how long does it need to take for schoolboy errors like last night to be eliminated?

Is this about Swansea City or about you and others being correct?

Its an open book, we can't play the same in every game........some times the opposition don't allow us, players have an off day, the list is endless.

We are 6th in the league.......i really don't understand what you and others want!?

Its clear that it's becoming a personal obsession with you and others.........i suggest you find peace and realise that the grass isn't going to always be green and we will lose games and things are not always going to be perfect.....that's life.

We lost tonight but we are in a terrific place with a good young manager with a young squad of players who are on the whole doing a terrific job all things considered......there really doesn't need to be near as much negativity as you and others seem to enjoy creating on here.

Weare not perfect, we will not win every game but we are 6th.......lets take the reality into account.

Spot on, thanks for saving me typing.

Couldnt post last night as i was miffed. We started pretty well with a bit of Zip then i thought Ben put us under a bit of pressure with mistake after mistake. They sat in and said take the wings we will defend all day and twice on sundays against Kyle and Manning. The sickening thing for me last night was the movement between the lines which was non existent at times. Add in another schoolboy error and us trying to knock Woodman out and it was a shite night to say the least. Well done to all who went though.

Now that's another question and a very fair question considering the mistakes that have occurred.

The mistake was a simple defensive choice but it wasn't made.....we are getting there but they need to be ironed out quickly.

Who is to blame for individual errors.....the manager, the player or both?

I think you will find there is another!

Im not vitriolic

I tend to be objective but then you dont understand that do you

I quite enjoy reading your posts, because they do offer a different and often valid perspective that I hadn’t considered.

But objective is really pushing it.

The thing is Darling looks like a player for 99% of the time but serious lapses of concentration have really cost us, same can be said of Ben and some of the others. Now my way of thinking is so what if they learn and grow and we build a strong spine and keep our developing players. In Darlings case it is his fault 100% there was nothing in front of him should have made contact not swung, also row z was the last error so i can understand his thinking perhaps, and why were they so deep?

As i said earlier we are to slow, getting through the lines, then we play backwards they press mistake and we end up scrambling or conceding. RM is also learning and id rather watch a Swansea side play (faster)possesion football than Preston who were just set up to defend and counter.

But there isn't anyone as so dead against Martin as you.

Every game we are losing or lose you post numerously about how sh!t he is and to get rid.

There is no one as vitriolic against him as you.

Why can't you see it?

It's embarrassing.

I have to agree with Vetch on this. No intent, no desire and no goals when we’ve played two very average sides in these last two games.

If we’d have carried on as we had been playing we’d have won both.

Russell has to admit he’s going to need to do more than stick to the plan to get us through the next three games.

The other worrying thing is that they made it up to fourth in the table and with two wins could possibly have gone top. Yet the mindset was completely passive last night and I just can’t understand that. Where’s the desire??? I’ve quite often questioned the mentality of Martin’s teams and that question just doesn’t seem to go far from my mind.

They don’t have to be any good.
We normally gift goals then the opposition shore up their defence

Then , we go on about we should have ,could have but really didn’t .

Then,we go on forums to slag off other fans rather than the doom brain that enforces this garbage on us.

We need to be drunk to watch it

Didn't see the game but can imagine we ended up with 5 players up the pitch waiting for 5 to push forward, leaving us exposed to the counter act that Preston weren't fast enough to expose.

The two attacking midfielders should be fully interchangeable with the two defensive ones if a defensive one pushs forward then one of two attacking players should drop deep to cover and if the attakers drop off it should leave space for the other midfielders or even with the wingers able of either going wide or even going in the spaces left.

Not enough quick movement between the midfielders to enable the quick through ball, if there is the right type of movement it also reduces the risk of being overwhelmed by the counter attack.

When?

When they play him as a 10 behind the striker. That’s where he’s looked his best. Better and more consistent that Ntcham at the moment.
