Walking Shoes 22:11 - Mar 25 with 5264 views | CateLeBonR | I'm a keen walker and I've been searching for a decent pair of shoes to wear. I'm not in a desperate hurry as what I have now should see me through this season. Not many shops left or people to ask for advice so I've been looking online. Seems to be the same shoes available on identical looking websites. Nothing really grabbing me. I've a £100 to spend, I'm not fussed about gore tex or any fancy stuff. Any hikers on here?

If you're doing a trek that's not to difficult and/or the terrain is yielding, I've always found Merrells the best. Well made, comfortable, good grip and durable. I've done Hadrians Aall, Great Glen Way and Cornwall in them; like slippers. I'm getting (trying too) some training in to start Santiago de Compostela later this year. Reason for throwing this in, is that I think the best suggestion made thus far, whatever shoe you get, break them in first! I'm going for more of a hiking boot and took them out today for a few kms. Bit more walking required before I do a big yomp. Not sure if its been said above, but shoes are one thing, but socks are every bit as important. Don't scrimp on cost, and invest in a good few pairs. I use 'smartwool' socks and they add real comfort. Definitely |
Socks...made my mother proud the money I spent on them.

I'm not sure I'm any closer to making a decision but I do now have a 'fit girl with DM boots on' fetish to explore 🤤 A lot of the suggestions I had been considering anyway so it's been helpful to hear positive reviews about them. Cheers and happy hiking🚶ðŸ¼â€â™‚ï¸
Walking Shoes on 22:10 - Mar 26 with 876 views | Mick_S | All good advice here, as you’d expect. I’ve a fine mate of mine that manages land for a living. The difference between a good and very bad day is what you wear, from the feet up. Good boots, good socks ( very important). The rest down from the head is more obvious. If you dress for the weather, you’ll be ok. Not cheap, but bad weather is there to be enjoyed.
| Did I ever mention that I was in Minder? |

Walking Shoes on 23:06 - Mar 25 by MrSheen | Not sure I know a Stag. Nearer Wimbledon maybe? My favourite Park story is that Asquith took time off from the First World War to drive his teenage mistress to assignations there, often after a few drinks. |
Not surprised at Asquith having a few drinks. I believe the term “squiffy” alluded to his enjoyment of a drink or three.

Another vote for Brasher / Berghaus Hillmaster boots
