We've had some memorable Swans wingers over the years.
Brian Evans and Willie Humphries
Mickley Conway and Kevin Moore
Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge.
Wingers bring excitement to a team.
Looking forward to seeing wingers back in our team again.

When fit you have to throw in this name, Jefferson Montero.

Started following Swans mid 60s.
Prior to that of course Swansea was a production line of so many great wingers.
Yes forgot about Barrie Jones.
Montero such a pity he had his injury issues.
Hamstring injuries the curse of players with pace sadly.

I agree.

Struggled with injuries unfortunately, but at his best virtually unplayable and a pleasure to watch him play.

Montero played against us in a preseason friendly and was unbelievable.
Brilliant to watch when fit. The sort of player people are happy to pay to watch

Some great names mentioned whom we have had the pleasure of watching over the years.
There's something about good old fashioned wing play which in my opinion adds to the entertainment.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned.

They’re regarded as a luxury in modern football. Wide players are expected to track back and to get involved with defensive duties. There aren’t many out and out wingers at the top levels any longer. The game has evolved not for the better in some ways.

But yes players like Conway, Moore, Dyer, Montero, L James were a joy to watch.

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day

They shouldn’t be a luxury though. A player who picks up the ball and drives at the defence with purpose and speed is any defenders nightmare and should be essential to any team. I’m not sure why they’ve gone out of fashion in recent years.

Nathan Dyer was electric.

I recall the Chelsea home game, night fixture, ( 1-1 I think ) where he ripped Ashley Cole a new one.
They took him off he was so out of his depth.

The only reason why he was excluded from the England squad was his choice of club.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

He's got more Premier League winners medals than Harry Kane though

Martin had Laird, Christie and Wolf who couldn't play in a team he set and a couple others who were deemed not worthy and yet with the change of formation Manning became from full back one of our best strikers.
Wonder how many of the new signing won't be up to the mark if we play 3 at the back?

I met a bloke this week who I played with in a youth cup final at the Vetch in 1963, I hadn’t seen him for 60 years. That made me feel really old.

I can't remember what it was on, but when Ashley Cole was asked his most difficult oppent, he said "your probably thinking I'll say some international superstar or big name, but it was Nathan Dyer from Swansea, he used to ruin me"

Nathan did the same to Patrice Evra .
I seem to remember Fergie subbing Evra around the hour mark because he was being run ragged.

Probably the best half of football seen at the Liberty was the first half against WBA ( October 2012).
We played 3 wingers interchanging up front continually.
A true joy to watch and will never forget that night.
Brilliant.

Agreed, my WBA mate was speechless at halftime.

Brian Evans. That's when I started following the Swans.
Lenny Allchurch on the wing and let's not forget the great Leighton James
