When he emigrated to the US from Poland, his actual name was Schmuel Goldfisz. The immigration officail misheard it as Samuel Goldfish which he remained for some years. How about a few “not a lot of people know thats” on 22:54 - Apr 24 by PeterHucker | You’re right you know. Sorry about that. I accidentally told a lie lie lie lie tell me why tell me why, why’d you have to lie? I knew about the 2 Elvis Costello albums, I got the list of other albums recorded there from the Air studios website which erroneously lists the Pistols album there. To make up for it here’s some more trivia about another studio not far from Wessex … Elvis Costello recorded his debut album My Aim Is True at the tiny Pathway Studios which is on Grovesnor Avenue in Islington (near the Snooty Fox pub if you know that) Damned Damned Damned & Madness’ The Prince were also recorded there. It’s no longer a studio, these days it’s just a flat and the current resident is ex Only Ones frontman Peter Perrett. |
I didn't know the last bit about the resident... Thanks I always think it's funny that My Aim Is True was recorded in there, with Huey Lewis and the News; although they didn't have Huey, and were called Clover. Although you're right that The Pretenders was recorded at Air, some of it was recorded at Wessex too. A mate of mine who worked for BT at the time once carried his bag into Wessex, pretending to be on a call out, so as to have a look at the piano John Lydon was sick into... [Post edited 25 Apr 12:14]

Elvis Costello released 'Every Day I Write the Book' in 1983. His only book was published in 2015. Assuming he was telling the truth in 1983, that's only just over 5 words per day...

How about a few “not a lot of people know thats” on 11:56 - May 12 with 481 views | RangersDave | Almost hidden in the film 'Those magnificant men in their flying machines" ' is my fathers truck as he parked it up by the finish line by the side of one of the wooden hangars while they were filming. Somewhere, legend has it, that there is a Ferrari visible as Charlton's having a ride around in a chariot race in Cineccitta, Italy. The model submarine that escapes the oil tanker at the end of the film........ 2 things there.......... 1st it had the fin number 593 which was the same fin number as the Thresher that sank with all hands, and they put that on as a homage to those that died 2nd.... i owned that model (all 12 feet of) it for 4 years as i was given it during my time at Pinewood in the school holidays Bonus round......... I also owned one of the 14ft long model german ships that were blown up at the end of the film 'Sea Wolves' I was given the original Dalek plaster very close up models (4 or 5 of them) after the second movie wrapped. They were designed to be operated by a man with a magnet on a stick under a false floor, very close to the camera or distance shots where their size made them look small, but were closer due to the perspective. How about a few “not a lot of people know thats” on 13:16 - May 12 with 367 views | johann28 | Went to a pub in Leytonstone yesterday calling itself the Calamity Tank Strange name for a pub, but as any fule no, most breweries in the past would have a calamity tank. It’s a wastewater tank, normally empty, that can be used for spills, bad beer, and maybe storage. Imagine a scenario where, during pump over, someone left a valve open and an entire brew just went down the drain. No problem, switch a few valves outside and your lift station can put this water in the calamity tank. If this brew were to just go down the drain, this would create a ‘slug load’ at the wastewater treatment plant. These are usually illegal, and can cause a lot of problems at the treatment plant ( whose operators could trace it to your brewery). I started telling someone all of this only to find him making his excuses and doubtless wishing he'd never asked.
