Disappointed we didn't have the opportunity to hear from Sheehan and Cabango but if it frees them up to focus on Saturday and we secure the 3pts then good call.

I thought it was similar answers from different people... "Lots of hard work ahead, judge us on actions" etc etc.

They were honest about the club not being ready to upgrade academy which I thought was refreshing. Otherwise nothing g they said shocked or excited me particularly.

The academy bothers me a lot. It’s around 4m a year and a large amount is not P&S.

We have a guy on the board, and I’m not criticising him (Tyler Morse) who has bought the post office tower and it’s just sitting there in London that he bought for £300m. It’s his choice and his money, but we know he has multi multi millions and is something like the second best hotelier by building numbers in the USA .

As it stands I don’t get it.

We need to keep the academy and look to upgrade it. Our information before Xmas was they would. This for me is now a red flag.

I get it, and not disputing the benefits of having it. But found the fairly direct response that it's unlikely to be upgraded anytime soon better than skirting around the issue or being non-committal which for me is what fans forums should be all about. These are not politicians... Give it to the fans straight, we may not like all the answers but at least it builds trust between the powerbtokers and fans.

I read it differently. I understood it as the Academy is currently being reviewed and the benefits are clear. But to get Cat 1 it is not a quick fix, we need to put everything in place then there is a 12 month monitoring procedure before the granting body agree or not. So even if we had everything in place before next season it would be at least another 12 months, possibly 2 years if the first audit gives recommendations. Then there was the question about Landore and to whether everything is being moved to fairwood, no decision made yet. If it is moved this wouldn't probably mean in my opinion that we wouldn't be in a position to start a review period next season. It seems two people in the same room can hear things differently, but there were several questions on the same subject so you would need to glean information from each response.

Unless there was something said when the sound wasn't working that the impression I took.

It's still being reviewed but no quick fix.

Seeing as I asked the question that is the way it came across to me.It will be looked at,these guys have a plethora of things to look at and deal with and it will take time.Hopefully the owners will see the benefit of it especially with that lot up the road heading that way

The money w men will look at how the decline of saleable assets has fallen off a cliff over the last x decade. They will have to assess the Nathan Wood and Harry Darling debacles as well.

During d cat one Huw Jenkins

OMcB. £18m
Dan James £15m
Joe Rodon. £11m (Winter)
CR17. £2m.
Benda £1m

Cat two
Cameron Evans. Free
Joe Thomas Free
Akanke Free
Veevers Free
and many many more.

Cardiff have been pulling in the better Welsh boys Colwill x 2 Ashford. Lawler etc

Presumably in Swansea was cat 1 the best Welsh boys would be in Swansea.

and yet the U21s still has more Swansea Academy players than cardiff in the squad. We could do better and that can be said of Cardiff as well but international footballers as a saleable asset is not infinite.

Cardiff are in the process of trying to upgrade to Cat1. One of the the biggest drawbacks of not being Cat1 is the 90 mile limit for sourcing academy players. If you look at some of the academy players we have sold they have come from beyond that distance when we were Cat1, we need the upgrade if we want to progress.

Not sure what you mean? Saleable inter national footballer are effectively infinite as there is always talent coming through while football exists.

Rodon Roberts OMcB James ars all credible Premier league players. Cullen Ollie Cooper and Cabango sti have a lot of work to do. Cabango got no big offers so resigned with Swansea to concentrate on his development..

I doubt there is anyone on here who wouldn’t want us to re-upgrade to category A and produce the likes of Roberts and Rodon or develop the likes of McBurnie and James.

I was surprised to hear this was openly dismissed yesterday.

They do their research and have presumably concluded cheap prospects from abroad are the way to go. There’s logic in it if they are 100% convinced by Montague and his scouting system.

I read both yours and Keiths.

Reading between the lines and accepting people interpret things differently, at the very least it seems it’s not a priority.

Personally I thought it would be (as it doesn’t really impact P&S and we’ve seen in the past it reaps rewards over time).

Agreed but the two on the panel with the power to make changes have only been in their current positions a couple of weeks. Coleman has left the club in a terrible mess on and off the pitch, IMO it will take a couple more months for them to see exactly where we are. Before any decision is made on upgrading the academy they need to make a decision on Landore. That itself is a massive decision which they are number crunching on.

At the risk of being an out of touch dinosaur I would be saddened in the Landors facilities were sold off and not used for football while money goes into the Women's team instead. I a would prefer to see ths womens team off the clubs books but given preferential treatment with regards to use of the facilities.

The women team is great as long as it does not adversely affect the core activities.

One option of Landore is to sell it to a property group and rent it back. This only help FFP figures for one year.

The point the panel put forward was the cost of running and maintaining three sites [Swansea.com, Fairwood and Landore] was very expensive. If I remember correctly it came in at about £4M a year, but I could be wrong. They said that there was surplus capacity in Fairwood and it was something that was under review. I think it is absolutely correct for the new ownership to look at every aspect of running the club and to cut out any unnecessary waste. This has absolutely sweet FA to do with the women's football team. The invitation to attend last night's forum was open to everyone, even those who mouth off on here and don't attend matches. You should have gone and put forward your points, but then again you are not man enough to face something head on.

I don't see the point in upgrading the Academy. A Category A Academy costs a fortune to run.
We made money from the Academy when we had the revenues to be able to buy up youngsters from other clubs for around £500k. We were in a position to buy the best youngsters from lower clubs. We don't have that money any more.
The lads coming through are the local ones that bigger clubs don't want. When we have good ones then they move to bigger clubs.
Until we can grow our revenues then don't waste what we have got producing players that leave on a free.
Keep it as it is or even cut it back further to save money.

I don't think we paid £500k for James and McBurnie combined. £40m in return.

Player trading is essential for a club with our revenue. We simply must buy/develop cheap and sell high. Scaling back on the Academy is the last thing we should be doing.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Not so certain the upgrade of the academy is the issue. It’s the upkeep of what we have.

How can a club that's about to drop to league one and in a whole world of debt be trying to get Cat A status
