Arsenal Madrid - Crikey on 13:39 - Apr 9 with 1226 views | TomS | A friend Whatsapped this morning wondering how many teams have recovered from a 3 goal deficit after the first leg of a European competition to prevail in the overall tie. That forced me to re-live the experience of us leading 6-2 against Partizan Belgrade after the first leg of the Second Round of the UEFA Cup in '84, then suffering utter shock on hearing via the 10.00 news on the night of the away leg that we had been beaten 4-0 and were therefore knocked out on the away goals rule. It went beyond shock, I was traumatised. As if re-living that experience this morning wasn't bad enough, I then remembered that we were playing Oxford this evening! (Not that I have any bad experience of anything happening against Oxford, who we never played in an important match, ever.....)

Times have changed since 1984 there Tom_S no live coverage then now wall to wall coverage and minute to minute tweeting and gambling . Fair play to Rice they were stunning strikes and something we are begging for at QPR just 1 or 2 a season would be fine. Real Madrid can score goals in bunches and are very dangerous at home its not over yet but I really want Arsenal to knock those wa*kers out

Real Madrid did it themselves in the European Cup back in the 70s. Thrashed 4-1 at The Baseball Ground in the first leg of the second round with Charlie George in his pomp getting a brace, Derby lost the second leg 5-1 in Madrid.

On the other hand they could take advantage of the fact that Madrid have to come at them from the start and use the speed of Saka and Martinelli to get in behind them and give the arrogant tossers a humiliation that virtually everyone in the football world will enjoy.

Indeed Unfortunately am going to say this and so many are going to shoot me down for this, but I much preferred watching this game as to nearly every game for the past three seasons involving QPR, many of which I have hated watching !! Almost to the extent to the realisation that your viewing pleasure is completely and totally insane !!! Ie. There is no pleasure in watching QPR !! [Post edited 9 Apr 18:11]

Yep, I hate Real. Them, Chelscum and Lazio in my triumvirate of football evil.
